Instructions for use and maintenance SATA air star F

4.2. Functional check

After each cleaning we recommend checking the breathing apparatus function. Cleaning
should be accomplished after six months at the latest, even if the mask has not been used.
Ensure that the membranes do not stick to the valve seat and that the fi lters seals and mem-
branes are in a good condition. The membranes must be replaced every two years at the
latest. Check the rubber of the face piece and the headbands. Before each use, check the
expiry date of the fi lter and if necessary replace if the use by date has passed.
If spare parts are required, only use original spare parts from SATA. Maintenance work may
only be carried out by trained skilled personnel.
5. Storage and service life
New originally packed masks must be stored under optimum conditions
at room temperature and in well ventilated rooms. Storage temperature:
-10° C to 55° C at < 90% rel. air humidity. The masks can be stored for
six years under the aforementioned conditions in their original packaging
(polyethylene bag and box). Extreme temperatures may affect the service
life of the masks.
Masks in use must be stored in their appropriate hygiene storage boxes,
in special storage cabinets or other suitable containers in order to protect them from dust
and vapours. Masks may only be stored when they are completely dry. They may not be
exposed to direct sunlight and must be kept away from heat sources. Never immerse masks
in solvents.
6. Markings
All parts essential for functioning can be identifi ed by means of their part number. Exhalation
membranes and mask body are furthermore marked with the date of manufacture.
The diaphragm features a marking containing fi gures and dots - example: 98 and 3 dots
means: 1998 plus 3 years is production year 2001. The mask body also has a date clock with
year indication. The arrow indicates the month.
The CE marking is located on the inside of the mask body and is supplemented by the
number 0158, which indicates the authorised authority Deutsche Montan Technologie GmbH,
Zertifi zierungstelle für Atemschutz, Am Technologie Park 1 D-45307 Essen, Germany, which
carried out the CE-certifi cation and also takes on the production supervision according to
para 11A of the Directive 89/686/CE.
Below the CE marking is the reference to the European standard EN140:1998, which is
mandatory for fulfi lment of the CE certifi cation.
