Session with the Patient

▷ Obtain a situation impression.
▷ Obtain the preliminary bite registration.
▷ Convert this information into an upper
jaw/lower jaw model and transfer to a model fix-
ator or articulator (e.g. Artex articulator type
Carbon with NoPlast 217480C).
The following drawings show the Artex NF.
The Artex NF is no longer available, but the
procedure in one of the carbon type Artex
articulators with NoPlast is the same.

6.2
Preparation of the Functional
Trays (Individual Impression
Trays) in the Lab
▷ Fabricate the functional trays out of autopolym-
erizate.
▷ Insert models into articulator.
To mount the registration plate on the individual
functional trays of the mandible:
▷ Select narrow or wide tracing tablet depending
on jaw conditions (here: Tracing tablet, wide [1]).
▷ Firstly, horizontally align tracing tablet onto
putty (Giroform Putty 576461) using the level
[11].
▷ Afterwards, align tracing tablet in such a man-
ner that the upper edge of the tracing tablet
runs from dorsal "center retromolar cusp" to
anterior approx. 16 mm below the symphysis
point.

▷ Screw in both frontal retention screws [1a] until
they are flush with the tablet top side.
▷ Insulate the threads of the screws with vaseline
(petroleum jelly).
