II Assembly and user manual of a hoop/escape ladder
II.I
Mounting
Check that the façade/construction to which the hoop/escape ladder is to be secured has sufficient bearing power for the hoop
!
ladder.
Choose the correct fastening elements. When calculating the strength of the anchorage, a force of 3 kN has to be taken into
!
account for each upright, in the direction of the centre line (see figure 1). The anchorage and the corresponding connections
have to be able to carry a load of 3000 N per upright. A maximum of 4 anchorage points can be taken into consideration to
contribute to this load.
Never position a hoop/escape ladder within a range of 2.5 m from non-insulated electrical components of low-voltage
!
installations and networks which are under live current. Never position aluminium hoop/escape ladders in the vicinity of
components of high-voltage installations.
Position the hoop/escape ladder in accordance with the instructions below.

II.II

Securing to the wall

Fix the wall mount kit(s) and, if applicable, mounting bracket kit(s) to the ladder parts (see figures 1 and 2). Make sure that the
!
wall mount is fixed immediately underneath the rung (as far as this is possible). The maximum distance between two wall
mounts is 2 metres.
Fix the wall mount kit(s) and, if applicable, mounting bracket kit(s) to the wall. Make sure that the topmost rung of the
!
hoop/escape ladder is flush with the walking surface of the step-off. The distance between the walking surface of the step-off
and the first rung may not exceed 28 cm.
If the opening between the walking surface and the ladder exceeds 75mm, to decrease the opening between the walking
!
surfaces, the step-off is increased - Altrex has developed the step-off platform for this purpose (art. nr. 202303).
II.III Securing the mounting bracket kit
Every "suspended" ladder that is not supported on a base has to be fixed using at least 1 mounting bracket kit which is shown in the
situation in the image to the left. A mounting bracket kit consists of a wall mount kit, as shown below, and also includes 2 diagonal
shoring braces and 2 diagonals to enable this to be fixed to the wall. Fit the mounting bracket kit level with the bottom of the step-
off (A).
