DESCRIPTION AND USE OF CMT400-1 AND CMT400-2
Setting CMT400-1 and CMT400-2 drilling depth
Setting procedure is shown in (Fig. 3). Tighten the work piece to the system. Insert the chuck adaptor
in the 18mm diameter hole so that, after pressing on the shank, the point of the drill bit touches the
work piece. Loosen the adjustment ring screw (a hex key 2 is included in the CMT400-1 and CMT400-
2 kit) and press the ring towards the drill until the spring is entirely compressed (Fig. 3A).
The point of the drill bit must always touch the work piece. Tighten the screw of the stop ring and
measure the distance between the stop ring edge and the end of the shank (Fig. 3B). Zero point for
setting drilling depth is thus established. Loosen the stop ring screw; calculate the difference between
the measured value and the required drilling depth and set the calculated value with the help of
the stop ring on the shank (Fig. 3C). On the chuck adaptor, this value can be read with the help of
graduated lines at the shank; the distance between the lines is 5mm (Fig. 2). Carefully tighten the
screw, respecting its diameter (Fig. 3D). When drilling on the edge, always drill at least 2mm deeper
than the desired value.
