Risk of injury and accident
Each individual step of the installation instructions,
the warning notices, the general safety precautions
and the notes must be followed exactly. If the basic
carrier bars are not fitted correctly, they and the
load could become detached from your vehicle and
thus injure you and others and/or cause damage
to property, including damage to your vehicle.
The roof load creates a greater surface area
exposed to the wind and causes the vehicle to have
a higher centre of gravity, thereby changing the
vehicle's driving characteristics. For example, the
additional weight on the vehicle roof can impair the
braking, cornering and acceleration capability of
the vehicle.
Always adapt your driving style to the prevailing
road, traffic and weather conditions, and drive with
particular care when the roof is loaded.
Always exercise greater care when driving with the
basic carrier bars fitted to the vehicle, even if they
are not loaded.
Make sure that you never exceed the maximum
roof load or the maximum permissible gross weight
for your vehicle, even when roof attachments
(ski rack, bicycle rack, etc.) are fitted. Otherwise,
the basic carrier bars, the roof attachments and/or
the load could become detached from the vehicle,
possibly injuring you or other persons and/or
causing damage to property, including damage to
your vehicle.
General safety precautions
Please observe the respective installation instructions when
fitting roof attachments (bicycle rack, roof box, etc.).
Please bear in mind that the vehicle's dimensions change as
a result of the roof carrier bars being fitted.
For reasons of safety and fuel economy, the basic carrier
bars should be removed from the vehicle when they are not
in use.
Do not put the car through an automatic car wash with the
basic carrier bars fitted.
Important
Make sure that the load on the roof attachments does
not impair the movement of the sliding sunroof. The
sliding sunroof could otherwise be damaged while it is
being raised.
Payload

The maximum payload is calculated as follows (example):
Maximum permissible roof load (1):
minus the unladen weight of the
carrier bars (2):
minus the weight of the
attachments (3, 4):
Maximum payload:
Important
E-Class Coupé vehicles (model series C 207):

basic carrier bars is 69.5 kg (152 lbs).

same manner.
