11 Dust Extraction

The dust that is produced while
working is detrimental to health.
Use dust extraction and wear a
dust mask.
Dust extraction prevents large
accumulations of dust, high con-
centrations of dust in the ambient
air and facilitates disposal.
External dust extraction
Insert the vacuum hose (35 mm dia. hose system)
firmly into the chip ejector 18.
For example, the machine can be connected directly
to the socket of a Kress general purpose vacuum
cleaner with remote switching automatic. The vacuum
cleaner is switched on automatically when the
machine is switched on.
The vacuum cleaner must be suitable for the material
to be worked.
For long periods of working with wood or for commer-
cial use on materials that produce dust that is detri-
mental to health, the machine is to be connected to a
suitable external dust extraction device.

12 Practical Tips

Adapt feed (pressure) to the material thickness when
sawing. If the feed is too rapid, it results in the motor
being overloaded, the blade becoming worn too
quickly and in a ragged cut.
The sawing performance and the quality of the cut
depend essentially on the condition and tooth form of
the saw blade.
Therefore, use only sharp saw blades that are suitable
for the material to be worked.
Wood
The right selection of a saw blade depends on the
type and quality of the wood as well as whether cross
or lenghtwise cutting is required.
Beech and oak dust is especially detrimental to health
and should be worked only with dust extraction.
Plastic
When cutting plastic, especially PVC, long, spiral
shaped shavings are produced that can be electro-
statically charged.
This can cause the ejector 18 to become clogged and
the swinging protective guard 12 to stick. The use of a
vacuum cleaner for dust extraction is recommended.
Apply the machine running against the workpiece and
carefully start sawing. Then saw steadily and without
interruption so that the saw teeth have less chance of
sticking.
Non-ferrous Metals
Use only a suitable and sharp saw blade. This
ensures a clean cut and prevents jamming of the saw
blade.
Apply the machine running to the workpiece, carefully
start sawing and then saw with slow feeding and with-
out interruption.
For profiles, always start the cut on the small side; for
U-profiles, never start the cuts on the open side.
Support long profile, otherwise the saw blade can
become jammed when the profile tips over and the
machine can "kick back".

13 Maintenance Measures

Before any work on the machine itself, pull the
mains plug!
Always keep the ventilation slots clean.
Wipe off the accessible plastic parts regularly with a
cloth without cleaning agent.
After heavy use over a long period, the machine
should be taken to a Kress service location for an
inspection and thorough cleaning.
From time to time, clean the resin deposits out of the
sawdust ejector (please do not use caustic cleaning
agents). This will ensure proper sawdust ejection.
Uncoated saw blades can be protected from corrosion
with a thin coat of acid-free oil. Remove the oil again
before use to prevent spotting of wood.
Resin and glue on the saw blade cause poor cutting
results. Therefore, clean the saw blade immediately
after use.

14 Environmental Protection

Kress takes back worn-out machines
for the purpose of resource-saving
recycling. As a result of their modular
construction, Kress machines can be
very easily dismantled into their reus-
able materials.
Give your worn-out Kress machine to your dealer or
send it directly to Kress.
