MANUAL REFERENCE
NOTES
Terms used in the manual
• The terms Free-Max and electronic head are used in this manual
to exclusively identify Free-Max (Fig. 2-B), as a component of the
entire tubular motor.
• The terms Max-Motor and motor-casing are used in this manual to
exclusively identify the 'motor-driven' mechanism(Fig. 2-A), as a
component of the entire tubular motor.
• The term tubular motor is used to generically identify the assembly
of the two components, Free-Max and Max Motor (Fig. 2).

KNOWING THE PRODUCT:

DESCRIPTION AND USE
"MAX" is a line of Nice s.p.a. tubular motors, designed to automate the move-
ments of roller shutters, awnings and sun screens. FREE-MAX is the electron-
ic element of this line that controls the limit switches and the movement of the
'motor-driven mechanism'.
The Max line is made up of various modular components assembled to one
another. These modules are divided into two categories (Fig. 2); that of the
motor-casing, related to the motor only, and that of the electronic head, relat-
ed to the component that powers and controls the "motor-driven" mechanism.
The tubular motor, which is obtained through the assembly of these two com-
ponents (electronic head + motor casing), is installed inside the roller of the
roller shutter/awning and is secured to the wall by means of a "snap connec-
tion" between the outer face of Free-Max and a special support bracket.
Thanks to its built-in devices (remote control, control unit and Encoder technol-
ogy), Free-Max electronic head can move the rolling shutter/awning both up
and down and control the intermediate positions. In particular, the encoder
guarantees a precise and reliable electronic control of all limit switches and
roller shutter/awning movements.
Free-Max is remotely programmed and controlled (via radio) by means of a
Transmitter; furthermore, it makes use of a visual signalling system during pro-
gramming, – short 'stick-slip' movements – the number of which (number of
movements performed) guides the Installer through the various procedures. It is
also compatible with all Nice electronic control devices (Transmitters, Climatic
Sensors) that implement the NRC Remote Control System.
Free-Max can program the limit switches in 4 different ways: automatic, semi-
