INSTRUCTIONS

Design and function

Atlas Copco pusher legs of type BMT 51, ALF
71, ALF 71-1 and ALF 67/80 are used with light
rock drills of type BBC. The feeds are double-
acting with an automatic return. BMT 51, ALF
71 and ALF 71-1 are equipped with a one-stage
aluminium cylinder. ALF 67/80 is equipped with a
two-stage aluminium cylinder. The pusher legs are
connected to the rock drill by a bayonet coupling.
Recommended air pressure is 6 bar.
The pusher leg support is for helping the operator
to lift and feed the rock drill during drilling
operations. Pusher leg control is placed on the
back head of the rock drill.
Signs and decals on the
machine
Signs and decals that are important for your safety
and the care of the machine are included with each
machine. New decals can be ordered using the
spare parts list.

C. Serial number
D.The warning symbol together with the book
symbol means that the user must read the safety
and operating instructions before the machine is
used for the first time.
E. The CE symbol means that the machine is
EC-approved. See the EC declaration which is
delivered with the machine for more information.
If the CE symbol is missing, it means that the
machine is not EC-approved.

Working principle of a pusher
leg

Function

The feeding movement of the pusher leg is
powered by compressed air, which is directed
to the upper side of the piston and pushes the
piston out of the cylinder. For automatic return of
the piston rod into the cylinder, compressed air is
directed to the lower side of the piston.

Preparations before starting

1. Check the drilling equipment
Check that all of the drilling equipment is in good
working order.
Make sure that the air inlet port is free from
obstruction.
Ensure that the fittings are tight and leak-proof.
