used, turn ch rger off before connecting ch rger to b ttery(ies). Att ch POSITIVE
(+) b ttery post. Then tt ch NEGATIVE (-) b ttery ch rger le d to good ground.
Once month, check the b ttery for proper ch rge of 12.5 volts. Check for proper fluid level.
Use distilled w ter when dding nd run 30 minutes to mix. Cle n b ttery, posts nd
termin ls. Disconnect b ttery c bles before ch rging to void d m ge to the electric l
system.
Sulfuric acid in battery electrolyte is poisonous. It is strong enough to burn skin, eat
holes in clothing and cause blindness if splashed into eyes.
Avoid the hazard by:
Filling b tteries in well-ventil ted re .
We ring eye protection nd rubber gloves.
Avoiding bre thing fumes when electrolyte is dded.
Avoiding spilling or dripping electrolyte.
Use proper jump start procedure.
If you spill acid on yourself:
Flush your skin with w ter.
Apply b king sod or lime to help neutr lize the cid.
Flush your eyes with w ter for 10 – 15 minutes. Get medic l ttention
immedi tely.
If acid is swallowed:
Drink l rge mounts of w ter or milk.
Then drink Milk of M gnesi , be ten eggs, or veget ble oil.
Get medical attention immediately.
In freezing we ther, run engine t le st 30 minutes to ssure thorough mixing fter dding
w ter to b ttery.
If necess ry to repl ce b ttery(ies), repl cements must meet or exceed the recommended
c p bilities. See Technic l D t section for b ttery specific tions.
Battery Installation
Always connect grounded cable last. lean and securely connect each cable to battery
terminal of the same polarity. Battery should be securely fastened with properly
