Configuring the Preinstalled Software
Your system has two different versions of the Solaris operating environment
software already installed on its hard disk. When you first power on the system, you
are prompted to choose between the Solaris 7 3/99 operating environment and its
corresponding suite of preinstalled software, or the Solaris 8 operating environment
and its corresponding suite of preinstalled software.
As the flowchart below shows, simply power on your system, select the preinstalled
software version, answer the Solaris setup prompts, and you are ready to begin
using your system. Alternatively, if you want to use the system as a server, you can
install the server version of the Solaris software.
