- Prepare the elevator and rudder servos (HR and SR) for installati-
on (servo output levers, rubber grommets), and install them in the
fuselage as shown.
(Note: white servo output arms are shown, in contrast to the stan-
dard output devices supplied with robbe-Futaba servos).
- The rudder servo SR is installed from the underside, the elevator
servo HR from the top.

The principle of securing the rigging using crimp-sleeves
- Each end of each rigging wire is secured using a crimp-sleeve:
pass the wire through the sleeve and double it over once. Only
then crimp (squeeze) the sleeve onto the wire.
Control surface connections
- Attach a clevis to each of six threaded couplers for connecting
the braided wires to the control surfaces; they are used to set
even tension in the wires, and to adjust the centre position of the
control surfaces.
Fig. 10
- Attach the rudder pull-cables to the output lever of the rudder
servo, and crimp the sleeves to retain them.
- Set the servo to centre from the transmitter, press the output lever
onto the shaft, and fit the retaining screw.
Fig. 11
- Group together the upper elevator wires, and attach them to one
end of the servo output lever.
- Group together the lower elevator wires, and attach them to the
opposite end of the servo output lever.
- Set the servo to centre from the transmitter, press the output lever
onto the shaft, and fit the retaining screw.
Fig. 12
- Temporarily fix both elevators at the neutral position.
- Thread the two upper elevator wires through the slots in the top
of the tailplane, and connect the clevises; check that the elevators
deflect smoothly and freely.
Figs. 13 and 14
- Connect the remaining clevises to the horns. Pull on the wires to
identify them. Connect the wires and crimp the sleeves to secure
them.

Assembly and operating instructions
Fokker DR 1 ARF
- Place the tailplane brace in position: glue it in the outboard holes,
and secure it with a self-tapping screw (2.2 Ø x 12) at the inboard
end.
- Remove the covering film at the tailskid position, and glue the skid
to the fuselage.
Bottom wings, undercarriage
Fig. 15
- Main undercarriage struts and components:
V: front struts (each with four holes), H: rear struts (each with two
holes).
Fig. 16
- Insert the joiner tube (8 x 284 mm) in one of the bottom wing
panels.
Figs. 17 - 19
- Slide both bottom wing panels onto the joiner tube until they rest
against the fuselage.
- Install the rear undercarriage struts, and screw the struts and
the bottom wings to the fuselage in one process, using M 4 x 22
plastic screws; don't tighten them at this stage.
Fig. 20
- Install the front undercarriage struts, and attach them on both
sides using M3 x 8 machine screws.
Fig. 21
- Align the undercarriage struts carefully.
- Attach the main undercarriage bearer to the struts using M2 x 13
screws.
- The wing screws and the undercarriage strut screws can now be
tightened fully.
Fig. 22
- Two turnbuckles and a spring-clip are used at one end of each
rigging wire to provide a means of adjustment; the turnbuckles
are installed at the bottom end.

A simple cruciform rigging system is fitted between the front under-
carriage struts.
Fig. 23
- Overall view of the wing rigging.
Fig. 24
- Install a swivel at the bottom end, and connect the turnbuckles as
shown.
- The ends of the rigging are secured using crimp-sleeves.
Fig. 25
- Attach a swivel at the top end of each rigging system, using M2
x 10 screws, washers and M2 nuts. The top end of each rigging
system is secured using crimp-sleeves.
Fig. 26
- Slip the axle through the main undercarriage bearer, and fit the
wheels and washers on the ends.
Fig. 27
- Fit the collets to secure the wheels; check that both wheels rotate
smoothly and freely.
Fig. 28
- Lock the nuts on all the M2 screws.

- Outboard and inboard wing struts:
The next step is to install the outboard wing struts. Please note
that the short struts „K" are fitted at the bottom, and the long struts
„L" at the top.
- Inboard struts: V: front struts (each with three holes), H: rear
struts (each with two holes).
The middle wing

- Place the wing on the model, and secure it temporarily using M4
x 30 plastic screws; don't tighten the screws at this stage.
