Fig. 31
- Install the short wing struts between the bottom and middle wing
on both sides - use M2 x 10 screws, washers and M2 nuts.
Fig. 32
- Check that the wing is central and „square", tighten all the screws,
and lock the nuts.
The top wing
Fig. 33
- Attach the ailerons to the top wing by gluing the hinges in the
slots, as described for the tail panels.
Figs. 34 and 35
- Two servos are required to actuate the ailerons.
- Open the servo hatches on the underside of the wing.
- Use a length of thread to draw the servo extension lead from the
inboard opening to the servo well, and connect it to the aileron
servo. Wrap adhesive tape round the connector to prevent it wor-
king loose.
Fig. 36
- Set the servo to neutral, trim the servo output arm as shown, and
fit it on the servo.
- Drill 1.5 mm pilot-holes for the servo, and screw the servo to the
inside of the servo well cover. Place the cover in the wing again
and secure it using 2 Ø x 6 self-tapping screws.
Fig. 37
- Connect the aileron pushrod to the servo. You may need to open
up the linkage hole in the servo output arm.
- Screw the horn to the aileron in line with the pushrod. Connect the
pushrod to the horn.
- Install the second aileron servo in the same manner.

Assembly and operating instructions
Fokker DR 1 ARF
Fig. 39
- Place the prepared top wing on the model, and attach the struts
to the brackets in the middle wing - use M2 x 10 screws, washers
and M2 nuts.
Fig. 40
- Screw the four inboard wing struts in place, fitting two angled
swivels to the top end of the front struts at the same time.
Fig. 41
- Install the cruciform rigging system between the front wing struts,
as described for the undercarriage.
- Route the aileron servo leads down into the fuselage, running
them along the front wing struts, and secure them with adhesive
tape.
- Tighten all the screws in the wing struts.
Fig. 42
- Slot together the dummy machine guns and the cockpit wind-
screen.
- Glue this assembly to the top fuselage decking.
Figs. 43 and 44
- Place the top decking on the fuselage and align it accurately..
- Attach the rear end of the top decking using two 2 Ø x 6 self-
tapping screws as shown: ensure that the decking rests snugly in
the slots at the tailplane location. The front of the top decking is
attached together with the cowl.
- The fuselage top decking should not be glued in place, as this
would make it impossible to remove the middle wing, and access
to the elevator servo would be more difficult.
Motor, speed controller
Fig. 45
- Attach the appropriate connectors to the speed controller and the
flight battery.
- Solder connectors to the speed controller to match the motor con-
nectors. Insulate each soldered joint with a heat-shrink sleeve.

Fig. 46
- Screw the aluminium motor mount and the propeller driver to the
motor.
Figs. 47 and 48
- Fix the motor to the motor box using M4 x 12 socket-head screws,
washers and nuts. Note that the screws should be fitted from the
rear.
Fig. 49
- Screw the motor box to the motor bulkhead using M4 x 10 socket-
head screws.
- Deploy the motor wires inside the fuselage.
Fig. 50
- Place the dummy rotary engine over the motor, and position it in
such a way that the motor cannot foul it.
Fig. 51
- Fix the dummy radial engine to the motor box using 2 Ø x 6 self-
tapping screws.
Fig. 52
- Place the cowl on the fuselage and secure it using 2 Ø x 6 screws
Fig. 53
- Fit the propeller on the motor shaft, and tighten the domed retai-
ning nut.
Note: the speed controller, receiver and flight battery are installed
from the underside.
Fig. 54
Please refer to the radio control system instructions before
tackling the next stage.
- Assign the control functions by connecting the servos to the
appropriate sockets at the receiver. The aileron servos should be
connected to two separate channels.
