6.2 Connecting the plasma cutting torch

6.2.1 Compressed air for plasma and cooling gas

6.2.2 Filtered compressed air free of oil and water

NOTICE
• Make sure that the connections are properly assigned and tightened.
• Since the plasma nozzle cannot be protected against direct contact for
technical reasons, the plasma cutting power source must fulfil the
requirements of EN 60974-7, point 7.4.2.
• The plasma cutting torch in connection with the plasma power source
must conform to EN 60974-10.
• The plasma power source must also conform to EN 60974-1.
• The plasma power source and the cutting torch must have the same type
of ignition (HF) and the same output power (rated current and
corresponding duty cycle).
 Tab. 3 General torch data (EN 60 974-7) on page EN-6
• Precisely setting the compressed air pressure and flow/volume is important
for the pilot arc ignition, cut quality and service life of the torch and wear
parts.
• A pressure (p) lower than that specified for the operating pressure in Tab. 1
results in thermal overload. The correct torch pressure must be ensured by
properly setting the pressure monitor on the system side.
 Tab. 3 General torch data (EN 60 974-7) on page EN-6
Use only compressed air which is free of dirt, oil and water.
We recommend:
• Initial filter with a 5 µm pore size
• Sub-micro filter with a 0.01 µm pore size
• 99.99% oil separation rate
• Air throughput with ABICUT 155 at min. 6.0 bar: >300 l/min
