6. Preliminary studies
For correct functioning of the guard trac™ or guard trac™ plus guardrail, and in order to complete the
fall prevention safety setup, you must meet the following requirements relating to guardrail installation
surfaces and structures.
6.1. Roof load distribution table
The flat roof on which the guard trac™ or guard trac™ plus guardrail is installed must be resistant to
support the additional weight of the guardrail as indicated in the load distribution table below:

In case of doubt about the resistance of the flat roof, a preliminary study by a competent specialised
technician, particularly in terms of resistance of materials, is essential before the installation of the guard
trac™ or guard trac™ plus guardrail. This study should be based on a calculation note and take the
applicable regulations, standards and state of the art practices relating to guardrails and this manual
into account. This manual should therefore be given to the technician or engineering department in
charge of the preliminary study.
