Maintenance of F22 aligners
Aligners are a protected environment that limits the flow of saliva, impeding the normal cleaning process
that this performs, as well as its buffering action and re-mineralizing properties.
In addition, when aligners are worn, the normal cleaning activities performed by the lips, cheeks and tongue
are also interrupted, further promoting the accumulation of plaque beneath the aligners.
It is therefore essential to thoroughly clean the aligners.
Cleaning the aligners
1. Clean aligners every time before insertion using a brush with soft bristles and cold water (never hot) and
a small amount of toothpaste.
2. Thoroughly rinse each aligner after cleaning.
3. Do not clean aligners using cleaning products for dental prostheses, or to soak them in mouthwash.
These products can damage aligner surfaces, making them opaque and more visible.
4. It is advisable to use specific products to clean your F22 aligners at least once a week and whenever
necessary. Any white deposit accumulating in or on the aligners is plaque that must be removed.
Effervescent tablets can clean parts of aligners that are difficult to reach with a brush, such as for
example the areas of the cusps.
5. If the aligners being used are excessively stained with colorants before the two weeks have elapsed,
consult your dentist. Give your aligners to your dentist dur-ing the appointment fixed, and they can be
cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaning bath. Your aligners will be ready at once for you to wear again.
