1 - SAFETY AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

n CAUTION! IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS: for personal safety
it is important to read and follow these instructions, and store
them in a safe place. In case of doubt, contact Nice Support
Service. Incorrect installation is a safety hazard and can lead
to faulty operation. n Installation, hookup, programming and mainte-
nance shall only be performed by qualified technicians, in compliance
with the applicable laws, standards, local regulations and these instruc-
tions. n Before starting the installation: make sure the device is
suited to the intended application; check that the values given in the
"Technical Specifications" chapter match those of the control unit with
WIEGAND bus to which it is intended to connect the product. n The
chosen position for the installation must protect ETWI from accidental
impacts and ensure easy access for maintenance. n The product is
protected against water and dust; it is therefore suited for normal "out-
doors" applications. It is however not suited for use in strongly saline,
acidic or potentially explosive atmospheres. Do not install the equip-
ment in areas subject to flooding or accumulation of water. n The elec-
trical cables must enter ETWI via one of the holes in the bottom of its
mount and must be inserted from below. This is to prevent water en-
tering the housing.
2 - PRODUCT DESCRIPTION, INTENDED USE
AND OPERATING LIMITS
ETWI is an interface for the communication between Nice devices for
radio command, and domotic systems based on cable communica-

tion (bus), with WIEGAND encoding protocol. In particular: in the re-
ception phase (or input), ETWI is compatible with all the Nice transmit-
ters which operate on the 433.92 Mhz radio frequency and use the
"FLOR", "FLOR+INFO" or "O-Code" communication protocols (three
Nice standards for the radio data encoding). The Nice transmitters
which have these characteristics are, for example, those models be-
longing to families such as Nice Flor, Nice Way, Nice Era, Nice Ergo
etc. In the output phase, ETWI is compatible with all the control units for
the access control, that use the "WIEGAND" bus communication pro-
tocol with 26, 30, 34 and 37 bit. Up to two ETWI can be connected to
the same WIEGAND input on the control unit. Furthermore, the devices
is provided with a zero-voltage contact relay which allows the ETWI to
be directly connected to an actuator (for example, an electric block, a
courtesy light etc.) and to be controlled without passing by a WIEGAND
control unit. Any use other than that described is to be considered
improper and prohibited! The manufacturer declines all liability
for damage resulting from improper use of the product or any
other use than that specified in this manual.

3 - INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS

n 01. Read carefully the warnings on Chapter 1 before starting the in-
stallation.
n 02. Disassemble ETWI (Fig. 1, 2) and prepare its mount (Fig. 3, 4).
n 03. Choose the point in which you want to install ETWI, keeping in
mind the following considerations: u in the ETWI reception (or in-
put) phase, the range of the device which transmits via radio and the
reception capacity of ETWI can be disturbed by various factors: a) the
devices are too far apart (see limits in the "Technical specifications"); b)
the presence of other devices operating on the same frequency (for ex-
ample: alarms, earphones, etc.) in the immediate vicinity; c) the pres-
ence of obstacles (trees, walls, metal objects, etc.) in front of ETWI will
reduce its sensitivity. d) the installation of ETWI on metal surfaces which
may shield the transmission; e) flat battery of the transmitter which can
