Mounting and demounting
5.2 Mounting tubeless tyres
A. Lubricate the entire rim surface (Fig. 5.2-1).
Lubricate both tyre beads, inside and outside, with
tyre-specifi c lubricant (Fig. 5.2-2).
OBSERVE THE ROTATION DIRECTION OF THE
TYRE, IF REQUIRED. SOME TYRES HAVE A
COLOUR DOT THAT MUST BE KEPT ON THE
OUTSIDE OF THE WHEEL.
LIBERAL LUBRICATION OF THE TYRE AND THE
RIM IS NECESSARY TO MOUNT TYRE CORRECTLY
AND PROPERLY CENTRE IT ON THE RIM. ENSURE
TO USE TYRE-SPECIFIC LUBRICANT ONLY.
B. Lock the rim on the wheel support and rotate it to
have the valve in 5 o'clock position. Place the tyre to
be mounted on the rim. Swing the tower forward so
that the mount/demount tool is in the working position.
ENSURE THAT THE MOUNT/DEMOUNT TOOL IS
NOT LOCKED IN A POSITION WHERE IT WOULD
HIT THE RIM EDGE BEFORE TILTING THE COLUMN
FORWARD.
C. Engage the lower bead OVER the mounting wing
and UNDER the mounting fi nger of the tool. Turn the
wheel support clockwise and push the tyre down into
the drop centre, opposite to the tool (Fig. 5.2-3).
D. To mount the upper bead it is possible to use the
BEAD PRESSER device (Fig. 5.2-4). The use of this
device together with the wheel support rotation will
facilitate the mounting operation.
