1. Application
This positioning lanyard is part of the personal protective gear used for suspension and should belong to the
user personally. It consists of a Mittelmann safety rope S12 or a Mittelmann Sheathed core rope S12KM or a
Mittelmann sheathed core rope S14KM each with a carabiner hook as connector at both ends of the rope. It is
used to secure persons in combination with a safety harness compliant with EN358 or a body harness
compliant with EN361 with 2 lateral suspension eyelets compliant with EN358. Positioning lanyard may not
be used in or instead of a fall arrester system since they are not suited for purposes of arresting falls. It can
therefore be necessary for fall protection purposes to use e.g. fall arrester systems compliant with EN363 or
collective equipment such as catching webs for additional suspending and arresting functions.
2. Use
Hook the first karabiner hook from the positioning lanyard into the lateral suspension eyelet and secure it.
Open the karabiner hook corresponding to its function, hook it in and then lock it again. Now, either wrap the
positioning lanyard around a mast or something like it and hook the second karabiner hook from the
positioning lanyard corresponding to its function into the second lateral suspension eyelet and secure it or
fasten the karabiner hook directly to an attachment point compliant with EN 795.
The attachment point must be at or above waist height and must demonstrate a minimum load capacity of
10 kN according to EN 795. The positioning lanyard must be kept taut, so that free movement is limited to a
maximum of 0.6 m.
Attention :
Use caution when looping around small diameters or radii with sharp corners.
Protect the
destructive or damaging hazards.
The user should familiar himself with the function of this rope prior to first use. Prior to and during use one
should consider whether any possibly necessary rescue measures can be carried out safely, quickly and
effectively.
The positioning lanyard should only be used by trained persons and/or persons who are otherwise skilled in use
of such equipment or the user should be under the direct supervision of such a person.
The positioning lanyard may only be used within the specified use conditions and for the intended purposes.
There must be a rescue plan on hand in which all emergencies that can occur during work are taken into
account.
If the belt positioning lanyard is re-sold to another country, the re-seller must provide instructions for use,
maintenance, regular inspection and repair in the national language.
3. Meaning of the label
The user must read and follow the use instructions!
