When charging batteries, hydrogen gas may form. As a result, there
is a risk of explosion.
Batteries should only be charged in a well-ventilated room.
Naked flames or sparks must be avoided in the immediate vicinity
of batteries when they are charging.
Installation
Installation must only be carried out by an authorised technician.
Install the battery charger as shown in pictures 1a, 1b and 1c.
The battery charger should be installed on a metal base plate to ensure maximum
cooling.
Installing SMC-HF 100, 250, 300
• The battery charger is manufactured in different mains voltage versions. Check that
the mains voltage in the installation location matches the battery charger's rated volt-
age as per the charger's rating plate.
• The recommended mains fuse is specified on the battery charger's rating plate.
• The battery charger is connected to the mains power using a cable with a plug insert-
ed into an earthed wall socket.
• However, battery chargers bearing the symbol
wall socket.
• Connect the battery charger as shown in pictures 2a, 2b and 2c. The red cable is con-
nected to the battery's positive terminal and the black or blue cable is connected to
the battery's negative terminal. Check the marking on the battery very carefully.
• The battery can have a permanent connection or it can be connected as required.
Handling

4 and 5.
