STERILIZERUV PS
prior to assembly of the sterilizer carefully clean the surfaces under the gaskets: in-
ternal surfaces „B" of the inlet and outlet and fragment „C" of the housing (1) – these
fragments are marked in figures 1 and 2;
after cleaning, make sure to rinse under clean running water;
for proper assembly of the sterilizer, consult figure 3. The edge of the housing (1) features
small marks, marked in the figure as „D". The complete cover (9) along with the entire
internal equipment of the sterilizer should carefully be slid into the housing (1) following
arrow „I" in such position, in which the inlet/outlet „E" of the cover head (9a) is more or
less facing the „D" mark of the housing (1), along the „F-F" line. When the cover (9) is slid
in, the housing (1) should be turned counterclockwise along arrow „II" as far as it will go;
the „D" marks on the edge of the housing (1) – see fig. 3 – are placed in two locations,
opposite each other. Depending which of these markings is taken account of in as-
sembly, th sterilizer may be assembled in two ways: with the inlet and outlet facing
the same or opposite directions (see fig. 4). The user may choose whichever of these
options is more suitable in given conditions;
screw in the connectors.
At this point the cleaning procedure of the sterilizer ends; you can now test its opera-
tion for a moment, and then install it back in its place according to the description of the
chapter „Preparation".
REPLACEMENT OF THE STARTER AND FLUORESCENT TUBE
When the UV-C fluorescent tube fails – no glow is visible at the housing connector (13)
– it is probable that either the starter (8) or the UV fluorescent tube (12) have been worn
down, therefore they need to be replaced with new ones. For this purpose follow the
steps below:
disconnect the sterilizer from the power supply by pulling the plug,
disconnect the sterilizer from the water circulation, remove it and drain the water from
the device, wipe it dry carefully with a cloth and place on a rigid flat surface,
remove the complete fitting (3) (see fig. 5) – along with the fluorescent tube (12) and
starter (8) – from the cover (9), unscrewing carefully the nut (4) following arrow „I" coun-
terclockwise. With this motion, the entire fitting will begin sliding out along arrow „II"
and may be carefully removed altogether from the cover.
NOTES:
1. In order to replace the starter and the fluorescent tube, it is not necessary to unscrew the
housing (1) of the sterilizer from the cover (9), although it is possible according to figure 2.
2. Do not touch the fluorescent tube glass (12) with your hand, remove possible finger-
prints with a clean cloth soaked with spirit.
In order to replace the starter (see fig. 6):
twist the damaged starter (8) according to arrow „I" and remove it, put in a new starter
in reverse order;
prior to assembly of the fitting, clean the sealing elements. For this purpose: unscrew
2 screws (5) at the end of the frame (3b), remove the stopper (6) and nut (4) – see fig.
7, on which the fitting is shown without the fluorescent tube – wipe dry the exposed
fragments;
remove the gasket (7) from the groove, clean thoroughly the groove and the gasket it-
self as well as the end fragment „A" of the internal surface of the cover head (9a), replace
the gasket in the groove and grease lightly with Vaseline;
NOTES:
1. Please make sure that moisture does not penetrate inside the quartz cover (9).
2. Do not scrub! To ensure safe tightness, the cylindrical surface „A" (see figure 7) of cover
head (9a) should be smooth and without damage!
replace the nut (4) and stopper (6), secure with screws (5);
slide the complete fitting (3) along with the replaced starter carefully back into the
cover (9) as far as it will go – never touching the UV fluorescent tube (12) with your
fingers! – and secure with the nut (4) by screwing it clockwise, also as far as it will go;
check the operation of the sterilizer, connecting it for a moment to electric power.
If the fluorescent tube (3) still does not glow, it should also be replaced.
To replace the fluorescent tube:
carefully remove the complete fitting (3) again – along with the fluorescent tube (12)
and starter (8) – from the cover (9), as described above in connection with figure 6;
twist the expired fluorescent tube (12) in any direction until reaching a position ena-
bling its removal from fixtures (3d) in the direction of arrows „II" (see fig. 6), remove it,
place a new fluorescent tube in the fixtures (3d) pressing both ends in and secure it by
twisting by 90 degrees;
NOTE: Do not touch the new fluorescent tube glass (12) with your hand, remove possible
fingerprints with a clean cloth soaked with spirit.
slide the complete fitting (3) along with the new fluorescent tube and the previously
replaced starter carefully back into the cover (9) as far as it goes and secure with the nut
(4) by screwing it clockwise, also as far as it will go;
check the operation of the sterilizer, connecting it for a moment to electric power.
Place and mount the repaired sterilizer following the descriptions of the chapter „Prep-
aration for launch".
Possible problems exceeding replacement of the fluorescent tube and starter must be
referred to the manufacturer's service.
QUARTZ TUBE REPLACEMENT
In order to replace a damaged quartz tube follow the steps below:
remove the complete fitting (3) – fig. 5;
unscrew the housing (1) – fig. 2;
unscrew four screws holding the setting bush (14) – fig. 8;
slide out the quartz tube with gaskets (15) and distance bush (16).
Assemble in reverse order (when tightening the setting bush make sure the quartz tube
rests against it).
