5.B. Production-Scale Holder (16EZB) Loading Instructions for Two-stage Purifi cation
The holder is designed to accommodate two-stage fi ltration. A combination of two grades totaling
six 1.6 m
capsules can be used within the holder. A second set of manifolds must be used between

the 3M Zeta Plus and 3M Emphaze AEX Hybrid Purifi er capsules.
Loading is performed while facing the front of the empty holder with the capsule compression
wheel on your right, with the holder in the horizontal position.
1. Ensure holder is on a level surface and engage both fl oor locks.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Holder must be in the horizontal position for loading.
2. Pull the locking pin out and rotate the locking bar to the unlocked position.
3. Slide the left end plate to the far left.
4. Standing to the right side of the holder, fully retract the right end plate by rotating the
capsule compression wheel counterclockwise.
5. Standing to the front of the holder, place the bottom manifold against the right end plate with the
female connector facing left, sanitary connectors facing upward and manifold stops positioned
between notched rods.
6. Lubricate all o-rings using water or process fl uid.
7. Place the BV5600R capsule in the holder so that the capsule stops rest against the front
notched rod.
8. Slide the capsule to the right until it touches the bottom manifold.
9. Push the capsule handles away from you until the straight handle stops against the back
notched rod.
10. If using more than one BV5600R capsule for the 2nd Stage assembly, place the next capsule in
the holder so that the capsule stops rest on the front notched rod.
11. Slide the capsule to the right until it touches the previously installed capsule.
12. Push the subsequent capsule handles away from you until the straight handle stops against the
back notched rod.
13. Repeat steps 10 - 12 until all the required 2nd Stage capsules are installed.
14. Place the top manifold next to the last capsule installed with the male connector facing right,
sanitary connectors facing upward and manifold stops positioned between notched rods.
15. Place the bottom manifold to the left of the 2nd Stage assembly with the female connector
facing left, sanitary connectors facing upward and manifold stops positioned between
notched rods.
16. Repeat step 7 - 9 with a 3M Zeta Plus 1.6 m
17. If using more than one capsule for the 1st Stage assembly, place the next capsule in the holder so
that the capsule stops rest on the front notched rod.
18. Slide the capsule to the right until it touches the previously installed capsule.
19. Push the subsequent capsule handles away from you until the straight handle stops against the
back notched rod.
20. Repeat steps 17 - 19 until all the required 1st Stage capsules are installed.
21. Place the top manifold next to the last capsule installed with the male connector facing right,
sanitary connectors facing upward and manifold stops positioned between notched rods.
22. Standing to either the front or left side of the holder, slide the left end plate until the locking bar
is positioned over the notch closest to the top manifold and lock.
23. Rotate both manifolds to the desired locations within notched rods.
24. Standing to the right of the holder, turn the capsule compression wheel clockwise until it comes
to a complete stop (a minimum torque of 100 inch-lbs [11.3 Nm] is required) and there are no
visible gaps between all capsules and manifolds.
25. Standing to the back of the holder, turn the rotation wheel clockwise to pivot the holder to the
vertical operating position.
