hydrocarbons (Fig. 17), cleaning fluids (Fig. 18), paints (Fig. 19), decals (Fig. 20), or other external
influences (Fig. 21). This helmet represents the best possible, state-of-the-art head protection against
external damage. However, it cannot guarantee that no injuries will occur. They are also certified in
part – to the extent indicated on the helmet – according to additional international standards. As part
of those standards, the helmets are tested for shock absorbance, stripping, chin strap stability, and
coverage zones. Our helmets consist of three main components: The outer shell, made from high-
quality plastic, provides the helmet with stability and distributes the energy of an impact across as
large an area as possible. The inner shell is made from a special expanded polystyrene. It cushions
the energy from an impact and dissipates it through deformation. The comfort padding provides a high
degree of wearing comfort and helps with the fit of the helmet. 2. Purchasing a cycling helmet: 2.1 Head
circumference in cm: As the starting point for choosing the right size, the head circumference is
measured a finger width above the eyebrows. Many stores will have a head measuring tape available.
The head size (head circumference) is indicated on the helmet in cm. 2.2 Trial fitting: It is important
that the helmet noticeably encloses your head. With the comfort padding in place, the helmet should
sit firmly, but not too tightly, on your head. You should look in a mirror when trying the helmet on.
2.3 Correct positioning: Make sure that the helmet is positioned horizontally on your head (Fig. 7). The
helmet should not sit too far back, otherwise the forehead will not be protected, but neither should the
helmet be pulled too far down over the forehead, because in that position it can affect sight. The ideal
position of the helmet can be determined when it sits a finger width above the eyebrows. 2.4 Size
adjustment system: 2.4.1 Helmets with a single size: In some helmets, the exact size is determined
solely through the thickness of the comfort padding. In this case, no manual adjustment is necessary.
2.4.2 Size adjustment system: With the size adjustment system, you can individually set the size of
your helmet. To do so, place it on your head in the correct position and turn the adjustment wheel;
turning it clockwise makes the size tighter, turning it counter-clockwise makes the size looser (Fig. 4).
Some helmet models also have a height adjustment system (Fig. 3) in order to optimally adjust your
helmet to the back of your head. To do this, select the locking step which seems most comfortable to
you. Then turn the adjustment wheel of the size adjustment system until the helmet noticeably encloses
your head. 2.5 Firm fit: Test for a firm fit by lightly shaking your head with the strap open. The helmet
should not change is position. An ideal fit is necessary so that the helmet can meet its safety function
100%. 2.6 Adjusting the strap system: 2.6.1 Helmets with strap joints (Fig. 2): Remove the padding from
the chin strap. Position the strap joints (Fig. 2) (the anchor where the temple and head straps come
together) so that the straps come together about a finger width under your ears. When adjusting the
strap joints (Fig. 2), the straps on the left and right sides must be individually pulled to the correct
length. Also adjust the lengths of the straps on the snap closure (Fig. 1) so that both lie firmly under
the chin. All of the straps are the right length when the temple strap (Fig. 5) leads downward tightly
but without cutting, and the back of the head strap (Fig. 6) runs lightly upward, also tightly. The straps
must not cover the ear, but have to be aligned next to it. Due to the individual adjustment, it may be
that the straps are of varying lengths. If the straps are too long, cut off the excess. They should stick
out approximately 4 cm. Carefully heat the ends of the strap with a lighter in order to prevent the strap
from fraying. Replace the padding on the chin strap. 2.6.2 Helmets without strap joints: Some helmets
do not have strap joints. In that case, the length of the straps is set with the snap closure. 2.6.3 Closure:
Most of our helmet models are equipped with a snap closure, which can easily be operated with one
hand. It is unlocked by pressing the red button (Fig. 1). NOTE: The snap closure can be loosened for
comfort without completely opening the strap system. However, before beginning to ride, the snap
system must be closed completely. The lock must not rest on the chin. 3. Extras: 3.1 Visor: Some of our
helmets are equipped with a visor. For these, please note the accompanying brochure with instructions
for the visor. 3.2 Lights: 3.2.1 Some of our helmets are equipped with lights as standard or can be later
equipped with lights. For changing the battery and its proper disposal, please see the accompanying
information sheets in the packaging or the labels on the product. Batteries may not be thrown out in
the household trash, but rather must be taken to a local collection point. The helmet lights are only an
additional light source and are not illumination to meet traffic regulations. 3.2.2 Installation of third-
party lights and cameras: see point 5. 'Safe use'. 4. Care, cleaning, and storage: Some of our helmets
have a washable interior. For the interior, comfort padding, and the straps, we recommend only hand
washing with mild soapy water or highly diluted mild detergent. It should be dried at room temperature
in a dry place. The helmet shell should be cleaned with lukewarm water and a mild soap solution. Do
not use solvents such as thinner or the like. Your helmet may be damaged by high temperatures or
strong UV radiation. Therefore, you should not store it at temperatures above 60°C, which can be
reached, for example, on the rear window shelf of an automobile. Do not place it directly on any heat
source, such as a stove. Store the helmet in a dry place. The helmet should be checked for defects at
regular intervals. If you are unsure, your local dealer can help you. Use only original parts for
maintenance. Please contact your dealer. Please note that helmets may not be disposed of in the
regular household waste, but rather should be taken to a local collection point or recycling centre.
5. Safe use: This helmet is only for use with bicycles, inline or roller skates, kick scooters, or
skateboards, and is not suitable for motorised cycles, vehicles, or other sports. Before beginning your
