USEFUL COOKING TERMS
1. Lock the lid in place
Using the visual guides, line up the lid and handle and note the locking
mechanism will click into place. If the lid is not correctly in place, steam
will not build in the pressure cooker.
2. Cook over high heat
To bring the pressure up as quickly as possible, set the burner on high.
3. Cook for 10 minutes at high pressure
Timing begins once the cooker has reached full pressure.
4. Adjust the heat to maintain pressure
When high pressure is reached, turn on the kitchen timer and reduce the
heat on the burner to low or medium-low to maintain the pressure.
5. Quickly release pressure
There are 2 ways to release pressure quickly:
• Using a long pointed instrument, such as a skewer, lift ring on release
valve and hold until all pressure is released and hissing noise ends.
• Place pressure cooker in sink and run cold water over lid taking care
to avoid water running into vent.
6. Allow pressure to drop naturally
Remove pressure cooker from heat and allow to stand until all pressure
is released (about 10 to 20 minutes). This is a gentler way to remove
pressure; remember food will continue to cook several minutes using this
method.

How to Use

GETTING STARTED

1. Wash your pressure cooker as instructed in care and cleaning.
2. Make sure the valves are free of any food to avoid an unsafe condition.
3. Remove the pressure regulator valve and check the exhaust pipe for any
obstructions. If you notice any, clean it and replace pressure regulator valve.
4. Check the exhaust pipe to make sure it is clean. To clean it, see CLEANING
section on page 23.
5. To sauté vegetables or to brown meats, add oil or butter.
6. Apply a thin coat of cooking oil to the area of the pot rim that comes
in contact with the lid rubber gasket. This makes it easier to open and
close the lid.
