Place food and the necessary amount of water or other liquid according to
your recipe.
Important:
• Make sure the quantities of food and water/liquid do not exceed the
maximum cooking capacity.
• Never use your pressure cooker without water.

3. Right after you lower the temperature, is when you begin to time your
cooking. When cooking beans, follow SUGGESTED COOKING TIME on
page 21.
Note: An occasional hissing sound ensures the proper pressure is being
maintained.

1. Grasp the lid handle and place the lid over the pot.
2. Align the arrow on the lid with the arrow on the pot
handle (A).
3. Turn the lid handle clockwise while keeping the pot handle
stationary (B).
4. Keep turning the lid until both handles come together.
You hear the handle latch click, locking the lid securely into
place (C).
Tip: Before you start cooking, practice positioning the lid and
locking it into place a few times until you develop confidence.
1. Make sure the pressure regulator valve is in place (D).
2. Place the pressure cooker on the stove and set stove
temperature to High. As pressure builds up, steam is
released through the exhaust pipe. The pressure regulator
valve starts hissing quietly then consistently louder. At this
point, lower the stove temperature to a simmer.
