These User Instructions are not to be removed except by the user of this equipment. Current
User Instructions must always be available to the user.
1. Compliant fall protection and emergency rescue systems help prevent serious injury
during fall arrest. Users must read and understand the User Instructions provided with
the product and be properly trained by their employer prior to use per OSHA 29 CFR
1910.66 and 1926.503 or applicable local standards. Misuse or failure to follow warnings
and instructions may result in serious personal injury or death. For proper use, see
supervisor, User Instructions, or call 3M PSD Technical Service at 800-243-4630.
2. Failure to follow all instructions and limitations on the use of the 3M
Cable Vertical Lifeline may result in serious personal injury or death.
3. Minors, pregnant women and anyone with a history of either back or neck problems should
not use this equipment.
4. The 3M Ladder Climb Cable Vertical Lifeline is designed for a single user only.
5. Never use combinations of components or subsystems that may affect or interfere with the
safe function of each other.
6. Not all fall protection components are rated for the same user weight capacity. Only use
components rated for the same weight capacity.
7. Before using a personal fall arrest system, employees must be trained in accordance with the
requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66 in the safe use of the system and its components.
8. Personal fall arrest systems, including the 3M Ladder Climb Cable Vertical Lifeline, must
be inspected prior to each use for wear, damage, and other deterioration and defective
components must be immediately removed from service, in accordance with the requirements
of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66 and 1926.502.
9. Do not use or install the 3M Ladder Climb Cable Vertical Lifeline without proper training
from a "competent person" as defi ned by OSHA 29 CFR 1926.32(f).
10. Do not use on an unstable surface, fi ne grain material, or particulate solids such as sand or
coal.
11. Installer may be exposed to a fall hazard during installation. Alternate safety equipment may
be required during installation.
12. The 3M Ladder Climb Cable Vertical Lifeline must only be installed on OSHA compliant
fi xed ladders.
13. Over tensioning the 3M Ladder Climb Cable Vertical Lifeline will result in damage to the
Energy Absorber at the top of the system.
14. The 3M Ladder Climb Cable Vertical Lifeline must only be connected to the front D-ring of
a full body harness with the distance between the cable and attachment point not exceeding 9
inches.
15. Do not add additional connectors to extend the distance between the 3M
Arrester 128 and the front D-ring of the full body harness.
16. Caution must be taken when using the 3M Ladder Climb Cable Vertical Lifeline near moving
machinery, electrical hazards, sharp edges, or abrasive surfaces. Contact with these elements
may cause equipment failure, personal injury, or death.
Misuse or failure to follow warnings and instructions may result in serious personal injury or death.
