13.4 Combustion air

The stove, during its operation, takes a quantity
of air from the environment in which it is placed;
this air must be restored through an air intake
outside the room itself (Fig. 5.1 - PA = Air Intake).
If the rear wall of the stove is an outer wall, make
a hole for the intake of the combustion air at a
height from the ground of about 20-30 cm; the
diameter of the hole is indicated in the table of
the technical data.
Make sure that the air intake is not blocked
accidentally.
A permanent ventilation grille must be placed
externally; in particularly windy areas exposed
to extreme weather, provide a rain and wind-
proof protection device.
If it is not possible to create the external air intake
in the room, an external hole can be created in
an adjacent room provided it communicates
permanently with a transit grille.
It is possible to connect the stove to the
combustion air intake by means of a tube
with a diameter of 80 mm.
Model IKI 16:9/IKI 16:9 TF:
The stove is supplied with an air intake
connection which, if necessary, can be installed
for the rear intake (Fig. 5.2-B1) or lower (Fig.
5.2-B2).
The removal of combustion air from
garages, stores of combustible material
or from rooms used for activities with
a fire hazard is prohibited. (In Italy UNI
10683).
If there are other heating appliances
and/or extraction fans operating in the
room, the combustion air inlets must
ensure the necessary volume of air for
the correct operation of all the devices.
13.5 Smoke outlet connection
The dimensioning of the chimney should be
carried out in accordance with EN 13384-1.
T h e S M O K E C H A N N E L b e t w e e n t h e
furnace and the flue should have the same
section of the smoke outlet of the stove.
The flue must be sealed and the use of
flexible extendible metal pipes is prohibited.
To connect the stove to the chimney, it is
possible to make at most 3 changes of direction
not greater than 90°, with the length of the
flue no greater than 2 metres in horizontal
projection and a maximum of 3 metres overall.
