SAFETY SINE/COSINE INCREMENTAL ENCODER
8. Electrical installation of the encoder
Please always disconnect the power supply before connecting or disconnecting the signal
line. Comply with the corresponding operating instructions of the external drive
system/control when connecting the encoder.

9. Initial start-up of the encoder
9.1 Electrical connections
When performing the connections, their correct functioning must be checked.
Check that the supply voltage has been correctly applied. In the case of reverse
polarity the encoder will not function and no signals will be output.
Check the correct application of the sine/cosine signals, the amplitude (signal
height), polarity and the phase position. If there is an error in the sine/cosine path,
then the function sin2 (x) + cos2 (x) = 1 is not fulfilled or the direction of rotation is
incorrect, for example due to the reversal of Sin and Cos (incorrect phase position).
10. Maintenance and Repairs
The encoder is maintenance-free. In case of high loads (e.g. due to high rotational speeds
and reversing operation), the torque stop may be subject to a certain wear. In this case,
the replacement of the torque stop may become necessary. Please contact ReeR for this.
