Paper saving functions
You can set the following functions to save paper by setting the MSW8-3 to
8-5 mem ory switches.
• Delete top margin
The pri nter back feeds when printing starts to eliminate the top margin from
the paper.
Set the amount of back feed.
• Line gap reduction
The distance between lines at line feed is automatically reduced. Select the
percent of redu ction.
• Text reduction Vertical/horizontal
Size is redu ced.
Set a combi nation of reduction ratios vertically and horizontally.
CAUTION
If the "Delete top margin " function is used the partially cut printo uts must be rem oved
after print ing . If the partially cut paper is back fed it may jam and cause trouble.
The followin g precautions are needed for "Text redu ction mode " .
• Text that is redu ced in size is harder to read than regu lar text.
• With horizontal reduction the prin t rang e is also reduced, so the numb er of lines does
not change. You mu st be careful of the pri nt range when using narrow paper.
• Barcode s cannot be used. It may not be possible to read barcodes if they are print ed.
