2 Introduction and performance data

2.1 Introduction

Dear customer,
Thank you for purchasing the Dentsply Multimat C.
This furnace represents an advanced product of the Multimat
series.
Simple and direct operation allows for quick training times.
The Multimat C can store up to 99 customised programs.
7 factory-preset programs can be allocated to program numbers
92 – 98 if required.
All firing data is shown on an illuminated display.
All firing processes are controlled by microprocessors.
Due to its small base, the Multimat C can be set up even in
limited space.
The instrument complies with all valid EU directives and VDE
safety regulations.

3 Safe use

3.1 Use within specifications
Caution !
The Multimat C was developed and is intended
solely for the purpose of firing dental ceramics.
Dentsply is not liable for any damage resulting from non-
specified use.
Intended use also includes all notes in this operating manual
as well as all notes in the separate operating manual of the
manufacturer of the vacuum pump.

3.2 Hazards and safety notes

Caution !
In order to ensure safe operation, please observe
the following notes:
Do not set up furnace and vacuum pump next to heat sources.
The distance to the next wall should be at least 25 – 30 cm.
The surface should be non-flammable, and there should be no
flammable objects nearby.
Place the vacuum pump in a well ventilated place. Vacuum
pumps lubricated with oil should always be set up in a lower place
than the furnace.
Do not touch parts that become hot, particularly the cover.
Prior to powering up, ensure that the mains power corresponds
to the voltage specified on the instrument.
After any extended inactivity period, at high humidity or low tem-
peratures, it may no longer be possible to generate a sufficient
vacuum. In this case, preheat the furnace to approx. 1000 °C and
afterwards allow to cool down to idle temperature with opened
firing chamber using the rapid cooling function.
If the furnace is under vacuum in "Off" state for an extended
period of time, the O-ring of the lift plate may adhere slightly.
When heating the firing muffle, there may be vibration noises from
the heater coil.
