Warning !
The instrument may only be connected to a
grounded socket with a < 30 mA leakage current
circuit breaker.
Always disconnect the instrument from main power when
carrying out repairs and maintenance work.
Repairs on opened unit may only be carried out by trained per-
sonnel.
After repairs, a high voltage and protective ground wire test must
be carried out.
In the case of faults or damages that prevent safe operation, the
instrument must be secured against unintentional use.

4 Setup and first operation

4.1 Unpacking

• Check the package and read the unpacking instructions lying
on top before proceeding.
• Unpack furnace and accessories according to the unpacking
instructions.
4.2 Check accessories
• Check if the scope of delivery is complete.
• Each Multimat C is supplied with:
• 1 workpiece carrier W incl. pins
• 1 workpiece shelf
• 1 firing plynth
• Inspect delivery for possible transport damage.
• If the delivery is incomplete or damaged during transport,
please contact your supplier.

4.3 Setup

• Place the furnace on a suitable surface and allow for sufficient
distance to walls (min. 25 cm).
• Connect the power plug of the Dentsply vacuum pump with
the vacuum pump socket and insert the vacuum tube in the
tube connector. The arrows on the filter must point into the
direction of the vacuum pump.

4.4 First operation

Before completing the connection, check whether the mains
voltage of your power supply corresponds to the mains voltage
specified on the type label.
If the voltage does not correspond, the furnace must not be
connected.
• Connect the power lead of the furnace with a mains socket
protected by a 16 A fuse and a leakage current circuit breaker
(< 30 mA).
• The firing chamber will now be ventilated and the language se-
lection appears on the screen:
1 = Deutsch (D)
2 = English (GB)
4 = Espanol (E)
5 = Italiano (I)
• Please choose your language within one minute by press-
ing the appropriate number.
• The furnace now runs through a short initialization phase. After
completion, it displays the version number of the software for
3 seconds. An automatic memory test follows and either pro-
gram 99 or the last set program is loaded as test program.
• Please press the button Lift
to the lower end position. Afterwards place firing plynth
on its holder.
Notes:
If no language is selected within one minute, the furnace auto-
matically selects the language last used, generates a vacuum of
approx. 800 hPa, if set in the menu, and switches to "Off".

When in "Off" state, the furnace can be switched on with
the button "on/off". The firing chamber will be ventilated and
the program last used is displayed.

4.5 Test program

This test program will provide you with a first impression of the
functions of the Multimat C. In factory condition, this program is
saved under program number 99 and contains the following
data:
Program number
Theoretical value of
preheating temperature:
Temperature increase rate
Theoretical value of
firing temperature
Temperature mode
Actual value of
firing temperature
Drying
Preheating
Vacuum level
Vacuum time
Firing time
The data of the test program can be changed.
Note: When heating the firing chamber from room temperature,
there may be vibration noises from the heater coil for some
seconds.
They are generated from the free movement of the heater coil in
the quartz tube and are not significant.
