INSTALLING THE CARRIAGE HANDLE
(Not standard with all models)
Stand vacuum right side up. Place metal carriage handle
outside of tank and under the side carrying handles. Be
sure to spread the ends of the carriage handles when
assembling to prevent damage to the tank. Align holes
of carriage handle to holes in tank and fasten tightly with
screws, washers, and nuts provided. The sealing washer
and screw have a close fitting tolerance. Rubber side
of sealing washer should fit against inside wall of tank.
failure to properly install rubber washer could result in
water leakage or loss of performance. Replace the tank
cover and clamp the lid latches securely.
INSTALLATION
(See Operation section for Filters)
OPERATION
NOTE: This series of long-life motor vacuums include Electronic Drive with a "Soft Start"
feature. These vacuum motors take longer to come up to full speed than conventional vacuum
motors. This is normal.
CAUTION
- DO NOT OPERATE THIS VACUUM ON A VARIABLE
TRANSFORMER (VARIAC) OR ADJUSTABLE SPEED CONTROL. DAMAGE
TO ELECTRONIC DRIVE MAY RESULT.
AUTO RE-SETTING THERMAL MOTOR PROTECTIVE DEVICE
This feature protects the motor by shutting off the vacuum should a pre-set temperature be
exceeded. This condition typically occurs due to a restriction in cooling airflow to the motor.
If activated:
1. Switch the vacuum Off and unplug.
2. Check for full filter bag or clogged, dirty filter including doughnut-shaped foam pad under
top cover. See (Figure 35).
3. Check hose for blockage.
4. Clean or replace filters. Remove any obstruction from hose.
5. The Thermal Motor Protective Device will automatically re-set in approx. 15 minutes.
6. Plug back into receptacle, switch vacuum ON and continue cleaning.
CLEANING FOAM PAD UNDER TOP MOTOR COVER
1. To clean foam pad, disconnect cord from receptacle and remove
handle screws on top of power unit (Figure 35).
2. Once removed, run foam pad under running water and blot with a
clean towel to dry.
3. After cleaning, replace foam pad and secure with screws.
NOTE: foam pad will only fit properly one way.
CAUTION
- DO NOT OPERATE VACUUM WITHOUT FOAM PAD
IN PLACE.
This equipment incorporates parts such as switches, motors or the
like that tend to produce arcs or sparks that can cause an explosion.
Do not pick up flammable, combustible, or hot materials. Do not use
around explosive liquids or vapors, as electrical devices produce arcs
or sparks which can cause a fire or explosion - do not use at filling
stations or anywhere gasoline is stored or dispensed.
NEVER OPERATE UNATTENDED!
Blower Use
Some vacuum cleaners can be used as a powerful blower by inserting the hose into the
motor housing exhaust port.
