Safety
Correct Use
Type 11G52 solenoids are used for operating Eu-
gen Seitz AG valves. The appropriate solenoid
must be selected in conjunction with the manufac-
turer or one of his representatives. The solenoids
are classified as category 2 and equipment-group
II devices in compliance with EC-type-examina-
tion-certificate PTB 01 ATEX 2020 and NEPSI
Cert. NO. GYJ12.1229 and are therefore suitable
for use in areas with potentially explosive gas-, va-
pour-, mist- and air mixtures (zones 1 and 2).
Authorised persons
The tasks described here may only be carried
out by authorised personnel. Authorised per-
sonnel are those persons that have undergone
training in electrical engineering (EN 60204-1,
GB3836.13-1997, GB3836.15-2000, GB3836.16-
2006 and GB50257-1996).
Concerning these operating instructions
These operating instructions form a component
part of the product and must be integrated in the
relevant operating instructions of the system- or
machine description.
General Safety Warnings
In order to ensure the solenoid's explosion pro-
tection performance any change of its configura-
tion is forbidden.
The supply voltage must not exceed
the values listed under „Safety Limits".
When used in hazardous areas the
solenoids must be connected to ap-
proved intrinsically-safe circuits.
In order to maintain protection against
explosion, the assembly instructions
must be absolutely adhered to. The
location where this device is used in
dependent upon the prevailing ambient
temperature. Pay attention to the allo-
cation of temperature class to ambient
temperature stated on the name plate.
Warranty
Trouble-free operation
Trouble-free operation is only assured if the prime
information contained in chapter „Technical Data"
is adhered to and the conditions listed in „Operat-
ing Conditions" are fulfilled.
Explosion Protection
The solenoid is intended for connection to intrin-
sically safe category ia and ib circuits (see safety
limits).

Operating Conditions
Power supply
Harmonic oscillations have no effect on the
functioning of the device if the r.m.s. value of the
sum of all the voltages at least equals the small-
er voltage value specified on the name plate.

The permissible values for voltage interruptions
or loss depend on the valve. If necessary, these
can be obtained from the manufacturer.
Electromagnetic compatibility
The solenoids do not emit any disturbances
(according to EN/IEC 61000-6-3 and Namur-
recommendation NE 21).
The solenoids are not sensitive to radiated distur-
bances (according to EN/IEC 61000-6-2).
For conducted disturbances, please consult the
specification for the power supply.
Extreme demands
Demands due to operating- and environmental
conditions, such as ionising- and non-ionising ra-
diation, vibration, shock and permanent shock are
to be discussed with the manufacturer. The same
applies to the resistance against aggressive envi-
ronmental media.

Assembly/ Disassembly
Before beginning, the „Safety" and „General Safety
Warnings" sections must be read and fully under-
stood.
Assembly
Slide solenoid over the guide tube of the valve
Fasten with securing washer and nut
Tighten the nut until loosening of the solenoid due
to expected shocks and vibrations is no longer
possible (torque 4 to 6 Nm)
Connection work
Open the cover and connect the solenoid to the
power supply using a twin-core cable with cop-
per cross-section max. 1.5 mm
5 to 9 mm (observe polarity. Torque for the termi-
nals: 2 to 3 Nm).
Replace cover with the inserted seal (torque for
the attachment bolt 2 to 3 Nm).
Additional notes for reinforced cables: cable outer
sheath and shield should be cut at the same length
(see sketch). The reinforcement must be connected
to the equipotential bonding on the other end.

Maintenance / Cleaning

Only use a damp cloth to clean the solenoid
Do not use a dry cloth because of the danger of
electric charging
If there are cracks in the housing and/or pottant,
replace and dispose of the solenoid
Disposal
To ensure explosion protection, solenoids may
not be repaired. Dispose of as special waste or
return to the manufacturer.
