Daily Maintenance and Pre-Starting Inspection
Please become familiar with the Cummins Engine manual and the Sauer Danfoss EIC
manual.
The Following must be checked each day before Starting Your Work Shift:
Engine Crankcase Oil Level
Add oil when level has dropped to the bottom mark on dipstick. Do not overfill. (See
engine manual.)
Radiator Coolant Level
Keep coolant level half-way between top of radiator core and bottom of filler next. Check
cooling system for leaks. (See coolant chart for correct coolant mixture to suit your
operating conditions)
Grease Fittings
Each of the thirty-four (34) grease fittings must be greased daily, except for the two
auger bearings. Use Union "Unoba EP-2" grease (or equivalent) and apply by pressure
only until a small amount of old grease issues from bearing area.
Hydraulic Oil Level
1. Cargo Dump Box must be raised and safety prop secured in position before
checking hydraulic oil reservoir.
2. Clear debris and dirt from hydraulic oil tank filler tube cap and surrounding area.
3. Remove cap and check oil level. Tank must not be filled higher than three
inches below top of tank. Oil pumped into raised cargo bed cylinders will cause
overflow spillage unless sufficient room is left in tank for its storage. Use Union
AW 46 hydraulic fluid in Thomas Bankout hydraulic system.
Engine Air Cleaner
Donaldson air cleaner consists of an outer, or "primary element" and an inner, or
"secondary" (safety) element. Do not service secondary element daily, but only as
required. Change secondary element annually or when damaged. Primary (outer)
element must be removed daily and tapped lightly against a tire to remove dirt. At no
time must you blow compressed air on or through these filter elements!
