O3 ozone, although it is not defined as flamma-
ble, shall be kept away from naked flames and
heat sources because it may cause or intensify
fire (oxidiser).
Use the equipment away from heat sources
or hot surfaces. The equipment must not be
used in explosion risk environments (ATEX
potentially explosive atmospheres).
Do not smoke near the
equipment
during the operations.
The work area must be monitored by the op-
erator while the equipment is in operation
and also until the subsequent ventilation of
the vehicle/room/cabin interior is complete,
to ensure that no one (persons, animals)
enters or stays inside the work area where
ozone generation takes place.
Identify the vehicle/rooms cabin/interior with
a label of adequate dimension to forbid entry
and sitting in the vehicle/rooms.
Biological hazard:
to indicate a reference to
substances that may be hazardous to men, an-
imals, plants, or the environment based on bio-
logical activity (for example, holding a virus).
The vehicles/rooms where the equipment is in-
tended to be used could be contaminated by
several biological activity and could be a poten-
tial risk for the worker.
and
All cleaning operations must be conducted by
personnel wearing PPE (Personal Protective
Equipment).
Electrical connection:
Connect the power
cord to a mains supply which conforms with
the ratings on the equipment's nameplate. If
the 110-230 VAC power accessory (optional) is
used, make sure the mains socket is grounded.
Never use the equipment with a defective power
cord or a different one from that supplied with
the equipment. If damaged, immediately have
it replaced with an original spare by a MAHLE
service centre.
Do not leave the machine powered up when not
in use; shut off the power supply before leaving
the equipment unused for a long time.
Ozone - Personal protective equipment and
precautions:
The operator must wear PPE personal protective
equipment (PPE shall be in conformity to relevant
local regulations)
Protective mask with filters for biological

hazard and protection (with active carbon
filter) against ozone exposure (Full Fa-
cepiece Respirators).

As to the putting on, removing and cleaning of
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), please re-
fer to the measures recommended by the PPE
manufacturer and by the Health Ministry of the

Important information on
equipment safety
n
Do not clean (or let water in) the equipment
with water, any other liquid, or a (flammable)
detergent to avoid electric shock and/or a
fire hazard.
Do not spray any flammable materials such
n
as insecticides or fragrance around the
equipment.
n
Do not use the equipment if the plug, the
power cord, or the equipment itself is dam-
aged.
If the cigarette lighter cable or the option-
n
al 110-230 VAC power accessory is dam-
aged, replace it with a genuine MAHLE
spare part/accessory. Do not block the air
inlet and ozone outlet. Make sure that for-
eign objects do not fall into the equipment
