- Once, after the ignition phase, a good layer of embers has formed inside the insert, it will be possible to switch to the actual
operational phase.
- Add 2 logs of approx. 1 kg and approx. 25-40 cm in length from time to time The wood must catch fire very quickly;
It is therefore advisable to adjust the primary air to the maximum power. Combustion at too low a temperature and with poor
primary air can cause the gases to burst, resulting in damage to the insert.
- To add wood, the glass door must be opened carefully to prevent smoke from escaping. Keep the door closed throughout the
combustion phase
- Never add wood while the wood already in the insert still burns satisfactorily.
In the EN 13229 test the insert was operated with three pieces of wood with a total charge of 2 kg for Hercules and Hermes and 1.5
kg for Chronos and Zeus Primary air open at 50% - secondary air open at 60%.
Warning about overfiring
If the chimney is continiously fired with larger amounts of wood than recommended and/or receives too much air, this can cause
a heavy heat development liable to damage both chimney and the surrounding walls. We therefore recommend that you always
observe the max. recommended amount of fuel (See under "Technical Data").
Using the chimney in various conditions
The way the wind affects the chimney can have a big impact on how your chimney reacts under various wind loads; you may need
to
adjust the airflow to achieve good combustion. Fitting a damper in the flue pipe may also help, as it will allow you to regulate the
draught under changing wind loads.
Fog and mist can also have a big impact on chimney draught; you may need to use other settings for the combustion air to achieve
good combustion.

Firing in the spring or autumn

In the spring/autumn transition period, where there is less need for heating, we recommend you light the chimney "top down" once,
perhaps adding just two pieces of wood to ensure that the combustion chamber lining burns clean again.
General notes
Never pour ash into a flammable container. Even after combustion is complete, the embers can be used for long periods of time.
in the ashes.
- When the insert is not in operation, the draught valves can be closed in order to prevent draughts from being created through ì the
insert.
- If the insert has not been used for a long period of time, check that there are no obstructions before starting the ignition.
in the smoke ducts.
- We advise you not to use the insert during the night. The insert is not suitable for this purpose.
- Some components of the wood insert, in particular the outer surfaces, become very hot during operation. Proceed to therefore
with the necessary caution.
- Never place flammable material near the insert.

Turning the chimney off

To turn the chimney off, proceed as described below:
1
Wait for the flame and embers to be completely extinguished.
2
When there is no flame and the bed of embers no longer releases heat, close the primary air completely.

MAINTENANCE

Safety warnings for maintenance

Maintenance of the chimney must be performed at least once a year and should be planned in advance with the
Technical Assistance Service.
In some conditions, such as turning the chimney on and off or inappropriate use, the combustion products can
contain small soot particles that build up in the smoke evacuation system. This can reduce the cross-section of
the smoke duct and pose a fire risk.
The smoke evacuation system must be inspected and cleaned at least once a year.
The maintenance operations must be carried out when the chimney is cold and with the electrical power supply
disconnected.
Before completing any maintenance operation, adopt the following precautions:
Make sure that all chimney parts are cold.
Make sure that the ashes are completely cold.
Always operate with equipment that is appropriate for maintenance.
When maintenance is finished, re-install all of the dis-assembled parts before restarting operation.
! IMPORTANT
Use and maintenance manual Chronos, Zeus, Ercole e Ermes
The quality of the wood, the chimney operating mode and combustion control can affect
maintenance activity frequency.
