Note: Requires trimming or removal of front air dam for hitch installation. Obtain owner permission before trimming.
1.
Remove Air Dam – Remove 8 bolts and 2 corner screws from the air dam.
2.
Remove Tow Hooks – If present, remove 2 bolts from each tow hook. Keep Tow Hooks for re-installation. Return fasteners to owners.
3.
Trim Air Dam – With a utility knife, cut out a 1.50" x 0.375" rectangle at 1.438" away from the inside horizontal edge on each side, shown in Figure 2.
4.
Reinstall the Air Dam – If trimmed, reverse step 1; replace 8 bolts and 2 corner screws from the air dam.
5.
Raise Hitch into Position
a.
Without Tow Hooks – Tape 1 Flat Washer above rear hole of each side of Hitch. Raise Hitch into Position.
b.
With Tow Hooks – Tape 1 Flat Washer above rear hole of each side of Hitch. Tape 1 Flat Washer to Top Side* forward hole of each Tow Hook. Raise hitch into position.
6.
Install Fasteners – Secure each side of Hitch with 2 Bolts and 2 Conical Washers into weldnuts in frame.
7.
Tighten all M12 CL10.9 fasteners with torque wrench to 130 Lb.-Ft. (176 N*M).
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
