6 Use
6.1 General
Check the equipment for completeness and damage. Do not use the equipment if it is damaged; in that
case contact the Holmatro dealer.
WARNING
Make sure you are up to date on all safety regulations and that you have mastered the use of
all equipment of the system you are going to work with.
6.2

Before use

WARNING
Never try to connect or disconnect hydraulic couplers if the equipment is being used or if the
system is under pressure.
The pump may only be used as a foot pump. Using the pump as a hand pump can lead to
bodily harm.
• Ensure that the pump is located on a firm base (maximum 20°).
• Check the hydraulic oil level.
• Unscrew the hydraulic oil filling/vent cap (Fig. 2/5) to vent the tank.
• Connect the tool to the pump using hoses and couplers. Refer to chapter 5.4 and the manual of the
tool connected to the pump.
• Connect the pump to the compressed air source using the air coupler. Set the air pressure at 7 bar.
• Check whether sufficient SAE 10 oil is present in the mist lubricator unit (if available). Add Shell No-
Ice fluid, if necessary.
Caution
A lubricator-filter unit is not required if the pump is connected to a compressed air bottle with
pressure reducing valve. It is, however, required if a different compressed air source is used.
6.3

During use

6.3.1 Operate the pump
• Depress the foot pedal at the "PUMP" side. The pump starts to operate.
• Release the foot pedal to stop the pump. The oil pressure is maintained.
• Depress the foot pedal at the "RELEASE" side:The oil pressure decreases and the plunger of the
tool will retract.
6.4

After use

6.4.1 Shut down and disconnect
• Depressurize the hydraulic system.
• Disconnect the compressed air source.
• Disconnect the hydraulic hose(s). Refer to chapter 5.5.
• Disconnect the compressed air hose.
• Close the hydraulic oil filling/vent cap (Fig. 2/5) on the pump.
