1. Remove underbody appearance panel: Using flat head screwdriver remove rivets from bottom appearance panel, using 10 mm socket, remove (1) screw from the
bottom bracket attachment, per side. Press the bracket inwardly to release the piece from the plastic tab attached to frame rails. Return panel to vehicle owner.
2. Lower exhaust: Using exhaust removal pliers, remove the rearmost rubber hangers to lower the exhaust. Be sure to support exhaust to avoid damage. Note:
Lubricant or soapy water may ease removal of rubber hangers.
3. Enlarge the access hole: Using die grinder, enlarge the access hole to 1'' diameter hole each side, see Figure 1.
4. Bend heat shield: Slightly bend the heat shield away from the hitch mounting area.
5. Install hitch: Feed the carriage bolts ① and spacers ② through the access holes using the pull wires ⑤. Leave pull wires attached. Raise the hitch and feed pull
wire previously installed through hitch bracket slot. Remove pull wires and loosely install conical washers ③ and hex nuts ④ to hitch .
6. Tighten all 7/16'' fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Ft.-Lb. (68 N*M).
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
7. Reinstall exhaust: Raise the exhaust back into position and reinstall all rubber hangers removed earlier.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which
has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety
specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
