Important safety notes
G
WARNING
Each step of the installation instructions, as well as the warnings,
general safety information and notes provided, must be followed
exactly. If the basic carrier bars are not fitted correctly, they may
come loose from your vehicle together with the load, resulting in
injury to you and other persons and/or damage to property, including
your vehicle.
G
WARNING
The roof load increases the surface area exposed to the wind, which
also raises the vehicle's center of gravity, thus causing a change in
driving characteristics. For example, the additional weight on the roof
of the vehicle may impair braking performance, cornering ability and
the acceleration characteristics of the vehicle. Therefore, do not
exceed a speed of 80 miles (130 km/h), even when driving with
unladen basic carrier bars fitted to the vehicle, and take extra
precautions.
Always adapt your driving style to the prevailing road, traffic and
weather conditions and drive with particular care if the roof is laden.
Do not exceed the maximum roof load or the maximum permitted
overall weight of the vehicle. This also applies when equipment is
fitted to the basic carrier bars (e.g. roofbox, ski rack). Otherwise, the
basic carrier bars, attachments mounted to the basic carrier bars
and/or loads may come loose from the vehicle, resulting in injury to
you or other persons and/or damage to property, including your
vehicle.
Observe the permitted roof load of the vehicle; see the vehicle
Operator's Manual.
When the basic carrier bars are mounted, the panorama sliding
sunroof cannot be opened. To ventilate the vehicle interior, the
panorama sliding sunroof can still be raised at the rear. If the
panorama sliding sunroof comes into contact with a basic carrier
bar which has been approved by Mercedes-Benz it will lower
slightly but remain raised at the rear.
For the mounting of equipment on the basic carrier bars (e.g. roofbox, ski
rack), please observe the respective installation instructions.
Take note of the change in the vehicle dimensions when the basic carrier
bars are mounted.
For safety reasons, and in order to save fuel, the basic carrier bars should
be removed from the vehicle when not in use.
Do not enter an automatic car wash when the basic carrier bars are fitted
to the vehicle.
Important
Loads on the equipment mounted to the basic carrier bars must not
restrict the area in which the sliding sunroof is raised at the rear.
The sliding roof could otherwise be damaged when being raised at
the rear.
Compatible accessory products
Important (GLA): Please take note of the length of a roof box being
mounted. Roof boxes that are too big may lead to damage of the
tailgate. Mercedes-Benz recommends the roofbox „400" from the
Mercedes-Benz Customer Solutions technical accessories range.
All roof boxes from the Mercedes-Benz Customer Solutions technical
accessories range can be fitted to the C-Class, E-Class and GLC.
Further attachments from the Mercedes-Benz Customer Solutions
technical accessories range are available from your Mercedes-Benz
Service Center.
