Fitting the rear basic carrier bar

1. Fit rear basic carrier (2) at distance (Y)

WARNING
Check that the basic carrier bars are securely attached before every
journey and also during long journeys. Retighten the quick-tightening
devices if necessary. Repeat these checks at regular intervals,
regardless of road surface conditions and at the latest after
1,552.5 miles (2,500 km) of continuous use.
Important
When equipment is fitted to the basic carrier bars (e.g. roofbox, ski
rack), depending on the vehicle equipment, make sure that:
the panorama sliding sunroof can be fully raised at the rear

the tailgate can be fully opened

1. Fold down cover caps (8) on both sides and lock them with key (4).

Important
Do not subject covers which have been folded down to any loads.
This may damage the covers or cause them to break.

If no additional equipment is fitted to the basic carrier bars, cover
strips (3) should be fitted in order to reduce wind noise.
