1. Check the seat of the saw chain so that it
sits correctly on the chain sprocket and in the
chain bar.
2. Turn clamping ring (8/2) to the right in order
to tension the chain.
3. Tighten clamping nut (8/1).
Checking the chain tension
Frequently check the chain tension, because new
saw chains stretch.
The saw chain has been tensioned correctly
when:
It is in contact with the underside of the chain
bar and can be pulled through by hand
It can be lifted by 3 – 4 mm in the middle of
the chain bar
At operating temperature, the saw chain stretches
and hangs down.
CAUTION!
Danger of injury due to the saw chain
jumping off!
Incorrect tensioning of the saw chain can
lead to injuries!
Drive links are not allowed to come out of
the groove on the underside of the chain
bar. Re-tension the saw chain.
Chain brake
The chain saw has a manual chain brake that is
triggered by the hand guard, for example if kick-
back occurs.
When the chain brake is triggered, the saw chain
is abruptly stopped and the motor switched off.
DANGER!
Danger of fatal injury due to negligence!
This can result in extremely serious inju-
ries!
The purpose of the chain brake is to re-
duce or avoid injury in the event of pos-
sible kickback.
Pay attention to safety and work with a
high level of concentration when using
the chain saw.

the chain brake (10). It must not be possible
to pull the saw chain through.

1. Hold the chain saw securely and firmly by the
handle and hand grip.
2. Start the motor.
3. Push the hand guard forwards (10). The saw
chain and motor must stop immediately.
DANGER!
Danger of fatal injury if the chain brake
is defective!
This can lead to extremely serious and
even fatal injuries!
Do not take the machine into operation
if the chain brake is defective. Have the
chain saw checked in a customer service
workshop.
Release the chain brake each time be-
fore switching on the chain saw.
DANGER!
Danger of fatal injury due to inadvertent
movement!
