This section explains how to:

Replace the 240 Vdc Extended Battery Cabinet (EBC240)

Recycle used batteries or UPS
NOTE DO NOT DISCONNECT the EBC240 while the UPS is in Battery mode.
Consider all warnings, cautions, and notes before replacing batteries.

Batteries can present a risk of electrical shock or burn from high short-circuit current. The
following precautions should be observed: 1) Remove watches, rings, or other metal
objects; 2) Use tools with insulated handles; 3) Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of
batteries.

ELECTRIC ENERGY HAZARD. Do not attempt to alter any battery wiring or connectors.
Attempting to alter wiring can cause injury.
To replace the EBC240:
1.
If you have a PowerPass Distribution Module (PPDM), proceed to
Step 8 to bypass the UPS power. Otherwise, continue to Step 2 to
shut down the UPS.
2.
Prepare your equipment for shutdown.
3.
Switch the battery circuit breaker on the UPS rear panel to the
OFF (O) position.
4.
Switch all EBC240 circuit breakers to the OFF (O) position.
5.
Turn the UPS off by pressing the Off
three seconds.

The
indicator begins to flash. The UPS switches to Standby
mode (if utility power is available) and removes power from your
equipment.
