Sensing range
The ability of capacitive proximity sensors to detect materials depends on the object's den‐
sity and electrical properties. The sensing range given for capacitive proximity sensors
relates to a measuring plate of standardized steel (ST37). You can find additional informa‐
tion about material reduction factors under "Technical Information".

Setting the switching threshold
Set the potentiometer to max. (default setting). Position object. Align the sensor with the
object. The receive indicator must light up. If it does not light up, check the distance
between the sensor and the object (Sn).
The receive indicator must go out when the object is removed. If it does not go out, reduce
the sensitivity via the potentiometer until the receive indicator goes out. The receive indica‐
tor must light up when the object is repositioned.
The receive indicator must in turn go out when the object is removed. If it does not go out,
continue to reduce the sensitivity via the potentiometer until the receive indicator goes out.
Remove object.
