Heel too hard
Symptoms
• Rapid heel-to-toe movement.
• At initial contact the user has poor control of prosthesis.
• User feels minimal energy return.
• Knee may become unstable.
Actions
• Shift socket posterior (or foot anterior).
POSTERIOR AND ANTERIOR SPACER CHANGE (FIGURE 4)
The posterior and anterior spacers may be replaced if they become worn.
Please refer to the Össur Prosthetic Solutions catalog for replacement
part details.
To replace:
• Remove the foot cover and Spectra sock from the device.
• Compress the posterior spacer to expose the anterior spacer
(Figure 4.1).*
• Remove the anterior spacer.
• Position the foot in maximum dorsiflexion to expose and remove the
posterior spacer (Figure 4.2).
• Replace with new posterior spacer, ensuring the spacer is fully seated
(Figure 4.3).
• Compress the posterior spacer to expose the anterior spacer
(Figure 4.4).*
• Replace with new anterior spacer, ensuring the spacer is fully seated.
*Place the wedge included in the replacement kit between the bottom
and middle blades to ease posterior spacer compression.
N.B. Ensure the wedge is removed before using the device.
FOOT COVERS AND SPECTRA SOCKS (Figure 5)
• The device is designed to be used with a recommended foot cover
and Spectra sock.
• Use a shoehorn when fitting and removing foot covers to avoid damage.
• Ensure the device is placed completely into the foot cover when fitting.
• The middle section of the spectra sock must cover the top blade of
the device to ensure it doesn't interfere with the movement of the
blades (Figure 6).
• The foot cover should only be used with intended Össur products.
N.B. The device should not be used without a recommended foot cover
and Spectra sock.
MAINTAINANCE & CLEANING
• The device is weatherproof, but not resistant to corrosion. The device
should not come into contact with salt water or chlorinated water. In
cases where it does, the device must be rinsed with fresh water
immediately, and dried with a lint-free cloth.
• The device is not designed to be used in extreme conditions such as
diving or jumping into water.
• If device components get wet, parts should be dried with a lint-
free cloth.
