Instructions for Use
Description
CRT buffer is used to determine the buffer capacity
of saliva by means of a test strip featuring a special
indicator system.
Indication
– In vitro diagnostics
– Determination of the buffer capacity of saliva
Application
The test is professionally conducted by the dentist
or skilled personnel.
Note:
For at least one hour before the test is conducted,
patients should
– neither eat nor drink anything,
– not chew any chewing gums,
– not smoke,
– not brush their teeth,
– not use any mouthwashes.
Step-by-step procedure
1. Have your patient sit upright in a relaxed
position.
2. Stimulate salivation by having your patient chew
a paraffin pellet.
3. Collect the saliva in a calibrated container.
Tip: Collect the saliva over a defined period of
5 minutes and determine the salivation rate
(ml saliva/min) at the same time.
Findings for adults:
Normal: ≥ 1 ml saliva/min.
Too low: < 0.7 ml saliva/min.
