2. General information
Read this document before you install the product. Instal-
lation and operation must comply with local regulations
and accepted codes of good practice.
2.1 Hazard statements
The symbols and hazard statements below may appear in Grundfos
installation and operating instructions, safety instructions and
service instructions.
DANGER
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will
result in death or serious personal injury.
WARNING
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
could result in death or serious personal injury.
CAUTION
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
could result in minor or moderate personal injury.
The hazard statements are structured in the following way:
SIGNAL WORD
Description of the hazard
Consequence of ignoring the warning

Action to avoid the hazard.
2.2 Notes
The symbols and notes below may appear in Grundfos installation
and operating instructions, safety instructions and service
instructions.
FM
Observe these instructions for explosion-proof products.
A blue or gray circle with a white graphical symbol indi-
cates that an action must be taken.
A red or gray circle with a diagonal bar, possibly with a
black graphical symbol, indicates that an action must not
be taken or must be stopped.
If these instructions are not observed, it may result in mal-
function or damage to the equipment.
Tips and advice that make the work easier.
2.3 Safety-related symbols on the product
Symbol
Description
Indication of a universally dangerous spot.
In case of emergency and prior to all maintenance
work and repairs, take the mains plug out of the mains
supply.
The product complies with electrical safety class II.
Connection for the deaeration hose at the dosing head.
If the deaeration hose is not correctly connected, dan-
ger will arise due to possible leakage of dosing medi-
um.
All signs and symbols on the product must be observed and kept
legible.
2.4 General notes
These installation and operating instructions apply to Grundfos
Dosing Skid Systems (DSS) equipped with Grundfos dosing pumps.
The proper functioning of a DSS system depends on the following
points:
•
correct operation
•
regular maintenance
•
calibration of the pump after installing the service kit and
periodic re-calibration of the pump
•
installation of service kit as recommended by individual DSS
component manuals, for example manuals for dosing pumps,
back pressure and pressure relief valves.
2.5 Target group
These installation and operating instructions are intended for
authorized and trained operating and service experts.
2.5.1 Qualification and training
The persons responsible for the installation, startup, operation and
service must be appropriately qualified for these tasks. Areas of
responsibility, levels of authority and the supervision of the persons
must be precisely defined by the operating company. If necessary,
the persons must be trained appropriately
2.5.2 Obligations of the operating company
•
Observe the local safety regulations.
•
Instruct the operating persons.
•
Provide the stipulated safety equipment and personal protective
equipment.
•
Arrange regular maintenance.
2.5.3 Obligations of the user
•
Read this manual thoroughly before putting the product into
operation.
•
Observe the recognized health and safety regulations as well as
the accident prevention regulations.
•
Wear protective equipment in accordance with national health
and safety regulations when working at the system and handling
chemicals.
