service and maintenance the protective housing must be fitted
in same position.
5.3.2 Replacing the speaking diaphragm
To replace the speaking diaphragm unbutton the nose cup and
unscrew the threaded socket with the special tool (Part No.
D2055 038). Assemble the new speaking diaphragm with the
gasket towards the connector (see Fig. 1).
See Table 7 for replacement intervals.
5.3.3 Replacing the lens (Fig. 8)
Loosen screws on lens ring and remove both lens ring halves
and then take out the lens. Prior to fitting the new lens, assure
that the groove of the faceblank is completely clean. When
assembling the new lens the middle markings on the faceblank,
the lens and the lens ring halves must match both on top and
bottom, with the marking of the lens „unten" toward the con-
nector.

Leak Test
The leak test of the mask is performed with the MSA AUER
Tightness Test Kit for Full Face Masks after the inhalation and
exhalation valves are sealed, according to the relative instruc-
tions for use. The mask is considered tight if at a positive pres-
sure or a negative pressure of 7.5 mbar inside the facepiece the
pressure change after one minute does not exceed 0.5 mbar.
The exhalation valve is also tested with the MSA AUER Tight-
ness Test Kit for Full Face Masks, observing the relative instruc-
tions for use. The exhalation valve meets the requirements if
with a moistened exhalation valve and a negative pressure of 10
mbar inside the facepiece the pressure change after one minute
does not exceed 1 mbar.
5
Intervals (as required in Germany)
The maintenance intervals are recommended by MSA AUER.
Applicable national regulations must be observed. If required,
the local conditions during use must be considered for the work
to be performed. In case of doubt, the local MSA representative
should be consulted and the applicable national regulations be
checked.

1) Facepieces which are regularly used should be cleaned and disinfected
as often as required. They should be cleaned as soon as possible after
each use because perspiration or saliva that dries unto the valves could
cause malfunctions. The mask must be disinfected at least before it is
used by another person.

Storage
It is recommended to store the mask in a plastic carrier which
can also be used to store the mask with screwed in filter except
CO- and NO-filters.
In order to prevent damage or distortion of the mask, no addi-
tional objects must be stored in the carrier. Observe instructions
in carrier cover.
Storage must be in clean, dry and normal climate, i. e. cool, dry
and free from hazardous material, protected against light and
radiant heat. It is recommended to observe German Standard
DIN 7116 1982 and ISO 2230 1973.
