MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Use of the Barrier Bag or a FDA cleared plastic sleeve is a necessary precaution to avoid cross-contamination and
prevent composite resin material from adhering to the surface of the LED Light Attachment and Curing Light
Body during use. If any composite resin makes contact with any component or accessory, immediately remove
resin before hardening in order to facilitate cleaning steps.
As per FDA reprocessing guidelines, this product must be cleaned with an EPA-registered disinfectant as normal
preparation for each patient as detailed in the section below. Failure to follow these cleaning guidelines could
cause damage to the device or result in harm to the patient.
CLEANING THE LED LIGHT ATTACHMENT, CURING LIGHT BODY, AND
LIGHT SHIELD
Do not autoclave the LED Light Attachment or any part of the curing light. Demi
!
Ultra parts are not autoclavable. Do not use bleach (sodium hypochlorite) on any
part of the curing light. Bleach will damage the electrical contacts on the unit
and render it inoperable. Never use a blunt instrument to remove composite from the
lens. Doing so will damage the lens. Do not immerse or spray cleaning solution directly onto
components. Instead, spray cleaning solutions on a cloth to wipe. Do not clean the Curing
Light Body when it is resting in the Charging Dock.
PREPARATION
• After each use of the Demi Ultra with a patient, remove the Light Shield and Barrier Bag without
contaminating the unit. Barrier bags are single patient use only therefore they should be discarded after
each patient.
• Carefully discard examination gloves, rinse and disinfect hands using an appropriate hand disinfectant
solution and use a new pair of examination gloves.
1. Cleaning of LED Light Attachment Lens: In the unlikely case that any dried composite resin is visible on
the tip of the LED Light Attachment lens, use a sharp plastic edge to scrape away. If visible resin remains
occluding the optics, use a non-diamond buffing or polishing wheel at low speeds (e.g., 2000 RPM).
Note: Never use acids, wire brushes, metal or ceramic-based rotary instruments, alkali soaps to clean the lens
or immerse the LED Light Attachment and lens surface in a solution.
2. Cleaning of Curing Light Body and Light Shield: Use an EPA-registered, intermediate level quaternary
ammonium compound disinfectant product like CaviCide™ solution or pre-moistened wipes such as
CaviWipes™ that contain 20% alcohol or less. To avoid contaminants or disinfectants from entering the
Curing Light Body during cleaning, please do not separate the LED Light Attachment from the
Curing Light Body.
Note: If a solution is used, spray (or soak) the solution (i.e., CaviCide) onto the wipe until saturated (i.e., wet
but not dripping). Use the saturated wipe to wipe per the instructions below.
a. Wipe the Curing Light Body surfaces with a clean disinfectant wipe (e.g, CaviWipes) for a minimum
Resolution
Verify that the LED Light Attachment is fully seated into the Magnet-
ic Socket.
The Curing Light Body is in Silent Mode. Press and hold the Curing Time
Selector button for 10 seconds to turn off Silent Mode. The unit will
beep twice to indicate the Silent Mode setting has been changed.
This indicates PLS is not active, which occurs when the LED Light But-
ton is pressed and held. Press and release the button when activating
a curing cycle.
First, confirm that the LED Light Attachment is flush with the Radiom-
eter Sensor and centered within the white circle provided.
Debris may be blocking or clouding the LED Light Attachment lens or
the Radiometer Sensor. See cleaning instructions in the Product Care
and Maintenance section.
The unit may not be seated properly in the Charging Dock. Remove
and reseat it.
Check the electrical contacts on the Charging Dock and Curing Light
Body to see if they are fouled. If so, clean the contacts with a dry cloth,
and reseat the unit.
If the above actions do not resolve the problem, the Demi Ultra may
require service by a qualified technician. Contact Kerr Customer Care
(see back cover) for details on shipping to a service center.
