Safety measures and warnings:
The present manual contains important safety instructions for
the INSTALLATION and USE of the product.
INSTALLATION:
Incorrect installation could cause serious injury. For this rea-
son, all installation instructions contained in the present man-
ual should be carefully followed during the working operations.
PRODUCT USE:
For the safety of persons, it is very important to follow these
instructions carefully in the everyday use of the product. Keep
this manual in a safe place for future reference.
The "NEOSTAR_T" series motors are available in the following versions:
NEOSTAR ST with Ø35 mm, NEOSTAR MT with Ø45 mm and NEOSTAR
LT with Ø58 mm. They have been designed for the automation of rolling
shutters and awnings; any other use is considered improper and is pro-
hibited. These motors are intended for residential use. Maximum continu-
ous operating time is 4 minutes. When selecting the type of motor based
on the application you must consider the nominal torque and operating
time specified on the rating plate. The minimum diameter of the tube in
which the motor can be installed is 40 mm for NEOSTAR ST, 52 mm for
NEOSTAR MT with torque up to 35Nm, 60 mm for NEOSTAR MT with
torque over 35Nm and 70 mm for NEOSTAR LT. The motor must be
installed by qualified technicians in compliance with current safety regula-
tions. Before installing the tubular motor, remove all unnecessary cables
and deactivate all mechanisms that are not required for the motorised
operation. The moving parts of the tubular motor must be protected if the
motor is installed below 2.5 m from floor level.
A horizontal distance of at least 40 cm must be guaranteed between the
completely open awnings and an object in front of the said awning. The
PVC power cable supplied with NEOSTAR_T is suitable for internal instal-
lation. For external installation the cables must be protected by an insu-
lating sheathing or the specific S05RN-F cable can be requested.
1) Product description
The NEOSTAR ST ø35 mm, NEOSTAR MT ø45 mm (fig. 2) and
NEOSTAR LT Ø 58 mm, are electric motors equipped with RPM
reduction and terminating at one end with a shaft on which the dri-
ving wheels can be mounted; see figure 3. The motor must be fitted
inside the winding tube, where it can raise or lower the roller shutter
or awning. The control unit incorporated in the motor also has a high
precision electronic limit switch system that can constantly detect
the position of the awning. The movement limits, awning open and
awning closed, can be programmed and the awning automatically
stops when these two positions are reached. The electronic limit
switch can also compensate for possible stretching of the fabric
("CAT" function) thereby guaranteeing the perfect closure of the
awning inside the box and avoid sagging when opened.
The NEOSTAR_T motors can be programmed for "RDC" torque
reduction, a function that decreases motor torque by approximately
50% just before the awning closes completely to prevent excessive
stretching of the fabric. NEOSTAR_T also features an "RDT" draw
release function that reduces the stretch of the fabric momentarily

The tubular motor must not be crushed, knocked, dropped or come into
contact with any type of liquid; do not drill or apply screws throughout the
length of the tubular motor, do not use more reverser switches for the
same motor (Fig. 1). The control switch must be close to the application
but away from moving parts and at a height of at least 1.5 m.
Do not modify any components unless such action is specified in these
instructions. Operations of this kind are likely to lead to malfunctions.
NICE disclaims any liability for damage resulting from modified products.
For maintenance and repairs contact a qualified technician.
Keep people away from the shutter when the latter is in motion. If any
work, such as window cleaning, is being carried out near the awning, do
not operate it; in case of automatic control, disconnect the power supply
as well. Do not allow children to play with the controls and keep all radio
controls away from their reach. Check the balancing springs (if any) and
the wear of cables at frequent intervals.
If the slope of the awning is less than 25% or less than the
value recommended by the manufacturer it should be retract-
ed to avoid water pockets when it rains.
The roller shutter could be damaged if used when ice has
formed.
Some of the programming and/or operating phases use the
mechanical stops of the awning. Therefore it is necessary to
select a motor with a torque that is suitable for the application
taking into consideration the effective traction of the awning
and avoiding excessively powerful motors.
after the closing operation has been completed, to prevent pro-
longed stretching. The CAT, RDC and RDT functions have been
especially studied to simulate the careful and meticulous behaviour
of a person who opens and closes the awning manually.
The NEOSTAR_T motor can be programmed with particular func-
tions that solve specific problems:
# FRT: this function allows to retract the fabric by a programmable
measurement after the awning has been completely opened, there-
by eliminating the unsightly sagging of the fabric when the awning is
open. For further information see table A3.
# FTC: this function allows to motorise awnings that are kept taught
by means of an automatic hooking mechanism such as arbour
awnings. For further information see table A5.
