Intended purpose
M.4s PCL dynamic is a brace with a
frame that is intended to reinforce and
stabilise the knee joint using limitation
of extension and flexion.
Indications
All indications that require physiological
stabilisation and reinforcement of the
knee joint and/or stress relief of the joint
in at least two planes, such as:
• Following injury of the posterior
cruciate ligament (conservative/
post-operative)
Contra-indications
None known at present
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Applying the brace
Before use
• Open all straps and pull them through
the belt eyes. In order to prevent the
the hook and loop fastener from
causing damage to clothing, for
example, fold the end of the strap back
on to it.
• Pull the knob out of the tibia support
(Fig. 1). A click confirms the correct
position. Pull the tibia support out
towards the back until it stops (Fig. 2).
Putting the brace on
• Bend your leg to ~70° and put the
brace on the injured leg (Fig. 3).
• Position the joints in such a way that
the centre of the joint (extension
wedge level) is located at the top edge
of the kneecap. Please make sure that
the brace has been placed on the leg
straight and is not twisted. (Fig. 4)
• Fasten belt No. 1 first (Fig. 5) and then
belt No. 2 (Fig. 6)
• Keep your leg bent and check again that
you have put the brace on properly.
• The brace has been put on properly if
the joint centres are located at the top
edge of the kneecap and they are
positioned slightly behind the side
central line of the leg. (Fig. 7).
• Now fasten belt No. 3 for the thigh and
pull it tight. Make sure that you don't
position the brace too far forwards.
(Fig. 8+9).
• Turn the knob back in to activate the
turning mechanism. Another click will
confirm the correct position (Fig. 10).
